The report presents the result of work in a continuing program to investigate basic processes in thermionic energy conversion. It is primarily based on papers that were given at various thermionic conferences. The subjects discussed are: transport implications of spectroscopic diode measurements, review of thermionic converter plasma physics, theory of the ignited mode with spatial temperature variation, and a theory of the ignited mode assuming uniform temperatures.
