"Clinical supervision is the signature pedagogy of contemporary counselor preparation. Historically, specialized preparation in clinical supervision has been exclusive to doctoral-level counseling professionals or those who have had at least five years of full licensure at the master's level. However, in response to a growing body of counselors across settings who work in many roles, an increased need for well-prepared and competent supervisors has also emerged. The urgency of this sentiment was reflected in recent revisions to the ACA Code of Ethics (2014) and CACREP Standards (2016) that require both master's and doctoral level counselors to not only be familiar with supervision models, but demonstrate a skill set that is informed by best practices"--
