I'd tried to forget about them. For a year after I'd left, I had ignored his calls and text messages and eventually my phone was silent. I moved on with my life. I had new friends, an amazing career, and more money than I could spend thanks to my rotter of a dad up and getting himself killed. But still I thought about them, about him.
