The reagent 1- hydroxy-2-acetonaphthone (HAN), its Schiff bases, hydrazones and their metal chelates represent an important class in coordination chemistry and pigment industry. These compounds also possess excellent bacteriostatic properties in vitro against microorganisms, facilitate the iron mobilization from 59Fe labelled reticulocytes and also have a remarkable anticancer effect in tumour growth and antileukemic activity. Thus, the work in this book is focused on the geometry, redox properties, nature, kinetics and mechanism of the electrode couples of HAN, its Schiff bases and hydrazones and their metal chelates in solution and in solid states employing elemental, thermal analyses, spectroscopic and voltammetric techniques.Hence, the overall work in this book can be provided in five chapters. In first one, General Introduction.chapter two, Physicochemical characterization of 1-hydroxy-2-acetonaphthone and its complexes.Chapters3,4and 5 Physicochemical characterization of 2(1-hydroxy-2-acetonaphthol)-imino-2, or 4- substituted benzene Schiff bases and hydrazones.the last one cocerned with Voltammetric behaviour of HAN and its Schiff bases complex
Spectral Methods in Transition Metal Complexes provides a conceptual understanding on how to interpret the optical UV-vis, vibrational EPR, and NMR spectroscopy of transition metal complexes. Metal complexes have broad applications across chemistry in the areas of drug discovery, such as anticancer drugs, sensors, special materials for specific requirements, and catalysis, so a thorough knowledge in preparation and characterization of metal complexes, while niche, is critical. Accessible to both the seasoned researcher and the graduate student alike, this book provides readers with a single source of content that addresses spectral methods in transition metal complexes. Provides readers with a single reference on metal complexes and coordination compounds Contains more than 100 figures, tables, and illustrations to aid in the retention of key concepts Authored by a scientist with nearly 40 years of experience in research and instruction
This book consists of contributions by participants in the Symposium "Spectroscopic and Electrochemical Characterizat.ion of Solute Species in Non~Aqueous Solvents" which took place at the American Chemical Society Meeting, Division of Analytical Chemistry, August 31 and September I, 1976, San Francisco, California. The manuscripts were submitted to the editor during the first half of 1977 and, in most cases, represent reviews of selected research topics in the broad area of characterization of solute species in non~aqueous solvents. In organizing this Symposium, I attempted to bring together a significantly large group of research workers involved in spectro scopic and electrochemical studies in the three large classes of non-aqueous solvents ~ organic solvents, covalent inorganic sol vents and molten salts. The experimental apprcaches and problems, such as avoidance of traces of moisture and oxygen, are frequently similar for all types of non-aqueous solvents. It is hoped that this volume will be useful to all concerned with chemistry in non-aqueous solvents. Gleb l>lamantov , Contents 1.
