This year the SOFSEM conference is coming back to Milovy in Moravia to th be held for the 26 time. Although born as a local Czechoslovak event 25 years ago SOFSEM did not miss the opportunity oe red in 1989 by the newly found freedom in our part of Europe and has evolved into a full-?edged international conference. For all the changes, however, it has kept its generalist and mul- disciplinarycharacter.Thetracksofinvitedtalks, rangingfromTrendsinTheory to Software and Information Engineering, attest to this. Apart from the topics mentioned above, SOFSEM’99 oer s invited talks exploring core technologies, talks tracing the path from data to knowledge, and those describing a wide variety of applications. TherichcollectionofinvitedtalkspresentsonetraditionalfacetofSOFSEM: that of a winter school, in which IT researchers and professionals get an opp- tunity to see more of the large pasture of today’s computing than just their favourite grazing corner. To facilitate this purpose the prominent researchers delivering invited talks usually start with a broad overview of the state of the art in a wider area and then gradually focus on their particular subject.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications, DASFAA 2006, held in Singapore in April 2006. 46 revised full papers and 16 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 188 submissions. Topics include sensor networks, subsequence matching and repeating patterns, spatial-temporal databases, data mining, XML compression and indexing, xpath query evaluation, uncertainty and streams, peer-to-peer and distributed networks and more.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming, CP 2000, held in Singapore in September 2000. The 31 revised full papers and 13 posters presented together with three invited contributions were carefully reviewed and selected from 101 submissions. All current issues of constraint processing, ranging from theoretical and foundational issues to applications in various fields are addressed.

The winners are divided into a number of tiers (or divisions), with each tier being rewarded differently. All the losers are penalised (which can be equally or differently). In order to study the various properties of the generalised lotto-type competitive learning, a set of equations, which governs its operations, is formulated. This is then used to analyse the stability and other dynamic properties of the generalised lotto-type competitive learning.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Web Information Systems Engineering, WISE 2014, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in October 2014. The 52 full papers, 16 short and 14 poster papers, presented in the two-volume proceedings LNCS 8786 and 8787 were carefully reviewed and selected from 196 submissions. They are organized in topical sections named: Web mining, modeling and classification; Web querying and searching; Web recommendation and personalization; semantic Web; social online networks; software architectures amd platforms; Web technologies and frameworks; Web innovation and applications; and challenge.
Applications of Data Mining to Electronic Commerce brings together in one place important contributions and up-to-date research results in this fast moving area. Applications of Data Mining to Electronic Commerce serves as an excellent reference, providing insight into some of the most challenging research issues in the field.
This book advances research on mobile robot localization in unknown environments by focusing on machine-learning-based natural scene recognition. The respective chapters highlight the latest developments in vision-based machine perception and machine learning research for localization applications, and cover such topics as: image-segmentation-based visual perceptual grouping for the efficient identification of objects composing unknown environments; classification-based rapid object recognition for the semantic analysis of natural scenes in unknown environments; the present understanding of the Prefrontal Cortex working memory mechanism and its biological processes for human-like localization; and the application of this present understanding to improve mobile robot localization. The book also features a perspective on bridging the gap between feature representations and decision-making using reinforcement learning, laying the groundwork for future advances in mobile robot navigation research.
The concept of a big data warehouse appeared in order to store moving data objects and temporal data information. Moving objects are geometries that change their position and shape continuously over time. In order to support spatio-temporal data, a data model and associated query language is needed for supporting moving objects. Emerging Perspectives in Big Data Warehousing is an essential research publication that explores current innovative activities focusing on the integration between data warehousing and data mining with an emphasis on the applicability to real-world problems. Featuring a wide range of topics such as index structures, ontology, and user behavior, this book is ideally designed for IT consultants, researchers, professionals, computer scientists, academicians, and managers.
This book gathers selected high-quality research papers from the International Conference on Computational Methods and Data Engineering (ICMDE 2020), held at SRM University, Sonipat, Delhi-NCR, India. Focusing on cutting-edge technologies and the most dynamic areas of computational intelligence and data engineering, the respective contributions address topics including collective intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, fuzzy systems, data privacy and security, data mining, data warehousing, big data analytics, cloud computing, natural language processing, swarm intelligence, and speech processing.
