This Special Issue of the Manufacturing Engineering Society 2019 (SIMES-2019) has been launched as a joint issue of the journals Applied Sciences and Materials. The 10 contributions published in this Special Issue of Applied Sciences present cutting-edge advances in the field of manufacturing engineering, focusing on production planning, sustainability, metrology, cultural heritage, and materials processing, with experimental and numerical results. It is worth mentioning that the topic “production planning” has attracted a great number of contributions in this journal, due to their applicative approach.
This special issue is dedicated to the life and work of beloved legal scholar Stuart Scheingold. The articles brought together in this volume articulate the inspiring contribution Scheingold has made to the field of political science. The final chapter on Rights, Community, and Democracy is a work authored by Stuart Scheingold which has been comple
Anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are dramatically influencing the environment, and research is strongly committed to proposing alternatives, mainly based on renewable energy sources. Low GHG electricity production from renewables is well established but issues of grid balancing are limiting their application. Energy storage is a key topic for the further deployment of renewable energy production. Besides batteries and other types of electrical storage, electrofuels and bioderived fuels may offer suitable alternatives in some specific scenarios. This Special Issue includes contributions on the energy conversion technologies and use, energy storage, technologies integration, e-fuels, and pilot and large-scale applications.

Sleep plays a critical role in child development, with insufficient sleep or sleep disorders linked to poorer physical health, increased weight gain, academic deficits, behavior problems, and difficulties with emotion regulation. This book examines the complex and dynamic relationship between sleep and developmental psychopathology. By focusing on broad topics such as social and emotional development or child well-being, as well as specific disorders including ADHD, anxiety, and bipolar, many different aspects of developmental psychopathology are considered. In addition, a breadth of studies examine different measurement approaches and sleep as an underlying mechanism for the development of behavior, social, and emotional problems. This collection of novel research studies exploring the intersection between sleep and developmental outcomes is essential for clinicians and researchers who work with children and adolescents. This book was first published as a special issue of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescents Psychology.
