Excerpt from Southern Forest Pest Reporter, Vol. 2: June 26, 1963 Southern pine beetle activity continues in Texas, Ala bama and Mississippi, but generally at a lower level than at this time last year. Similar conditions have been reported in North Carolina and within the National Forest in north Georgia and South Carolina. The Georgia Forestry Commission reported that the southern pine beetle had been reduced to endemic levels in 34 counties and that the control program will be completed by the last of June.
