For author Colette Stroffolino, saying yes to adopting her first dog and welcoming a little furry ball of love into her life was one of the best decisions she ever made. She learned so much about connection, unconditional love, responsibility, and joy, as well as how to grieve. Many questions came up for Stroffolino as she welcomed her first pet into her home. Lucie, a Chihuahua, was just four months old, so there was a huge learning curve involved. Small Dog, Big Adventures tells about the pair's many adventures including a first trip to the veterinarian, finding a pet sitter, grooming, learning to use a leash, socializing a dog, traveling in an airplane, and more. Stroffolino's life sure changed when she adopted a needy puppy! Communicating the joys and sorrows of pet ownership, Small Dog, Big Adventures is a heartfelt story about one girl's adventures, and misadventures with first-time pet ownership.
A long time ago in a small town, there was a little dog named Charlie. Charlie was a very curious pup, always wanting to learn more about the world. One day, Charlie decided to go on an adventure and explore this magical world. Charlie walked a long way and saw many amazing things like tall trees, beautiful flowers, and butterflies of all different colors. He was very excited, but when he looked back, he realized he was lost. Charlie started to feel scared and didn't know what to do. As he wandered, he saw a little bird. The bird asked if he needed help, and Charlie happily agreed. The bird told Charlie that she could help him find his way home. So, they began their adventure together. Charlie discovered many beautiful places and became good friends with the bird. Charlie felt hungry after a long walk, and the bird brought him some food and water, telling Charlie to be well-prepared next time when he went out. They walked for a long time and finally found the way home. Charlie thanked the bird for her help and was happy he had such a good friend. Charlie's big adventure taught him many things. He learned about the value of friendship and how to ask for help in difficult times. From then on, Charlie became a braver and smarter little dog. When Charlie returned home, his owner was surprised because Charlie had grown quite a bit. Charlie proudly told his owner about his adventure, and the owner was proud that his little dog had grown and had such an exciting experience. The story of Charlie's big adventure teaches us that even when we face difficulties, we can overcome them as long as we are brave, ask for help, and have good friends by our side. This story also reminds us that the most important things in life are not wealth or fame, but the people around us and our experiences.
