The cost Of maintaining the Hospital is in excess Of the amount expended during the previous year, caused by the larger number. Of patients, the introduction of a meter by the Water Board, by which the cost of water is increased at the rate Of about per annum, and the establishment of a dispensary for medical out-patients, which, although it adds to the expenses for medicines, is in reality an economy, as many persons are treated in this manner whom it would be otherwise necessary to admit to the Hospital.
