Excerpt from 57th Annual Catalogue, 1930-1931: York Collegiate Institute, Chartered 1873; York County Academy, Chartered 1787; Schools for Girls and Boys From the Kindergarten to College Later in the same year, upon petition of Mr. Small and his as sociates, a charter was granted to the institution, under the name adopted, by the Court of Common Pleas of York County, Penn sylvania; after which, Mr. Small and wife conveyed to the cor potation the present tract Of land occupied by the Institute, located at South Duke Street and College Avenue, in the City of York, together with a large and fully-equipped building which he had erected thereon, and provided the school with a liberal endowment.
