Life is like an educational institution where the nuances of living in peace and tolerance are self-taught. The events in our lives are pre-destined and without exception each individual has to face the highs and lows of life. This is a continuous process in which none are to be blamed, in particular God. In reality it is our Karma that pushes up or pulls us down. ”The will of God will never take you where the grace of god will not protect you.” Sunanda Ananth, the author, found herself posed with questions quite often by her friends and other Sai devotees – Why is it that we suffer despite being pious? What wrong have we done? Why does not God come to our rescue, and so on and so forth? Pondering over these questions, her quest for the answers began. At this juncture, a spiritually-acclaimed person came into her life to guide her in her quest. Popularly known as Udi Baba alias the Late Sri Manickam, he mentored Sunanda towards deep spirituality and contributed significantly to her progress in this path. Sunanda had always been a motivational speaker and during her interactive sessions she came to understand that for many devotees, devotion was superfluous and need-based. Through her personal interaction she strives to make Sai devotees realise that unwavering faith and unconditional surrender are the foundations to spirituality. We only need to cleanse our minds to realise the presence of Sai within us. Taking her inspiration and guidance from the sacred text Shri Sai Satcharita and other related and trusted writings on the life and leelas of Sai Baba, the author seeks to empower Sai devotees with the contents of this book. This book has been conceived with a new approach where a review after each chapter attempts to answer some of the queries likely to arise to the reader.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba wrote a series of articles under the Vahini series, for Sanathana Sarathi, a monthly magazine being published by Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Publications Division, Prasanthi Nilayam. These precious articles are brought out now, under the title “Geeta Vahini”, in this book, for the benefit of readers. This is not a commentary or summary of the divine message that was given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. It conveys the same message in a simpler form to us, in order to remove our delusion and confer faith and strength on us, so that we may realise our own reality. Bhagawan says, “Drawing on the Divine that is inherent in us is the lesson of Geeta… Arjuna is the jiva and Krishna is the Deva. When both are in contact, impregnable might results… Krishna had to work in and through Arjuna, so that the reign of Dharma (righteousness) is re-established. Arjuna means white, pure, unblemished. Hence, he is the proper instrument.” We too can become proper instruments in restoring Dharma, if we follow the lessons that Bhagawan teaches through this book.
Discourses by a Hindu spiritual leader from India.
This work is penned by the author through automatic writing. Nandini took to automatic writing with the grace of her Spiritual Guru Baba Hiral Shah. ‘Healing with Shirdi Sai Baba,’ is a book of teachings, leela’s and daily pearls of wisdom. This book is a direct benevolence of Shirdi Sai Baba and reading this book will help those looking for guidance and enlightenment.
Countless books have been written about Sai Baba so far. Then why one more? And why does Dr Suresh Haware, who was the chairman of Saibaba Sansthan, want to write it? The answer lies in his five years of divine experience at Shirdi, an experience of a different world. Sai Anubhuti is not theoretical; it is practical. It cannot be expressed in words, he says. The Sai philosophy of 'shraddha-saburi' and 'sab ka malik ek' is very easy to understand but equally difficult to practise. Despite being a renowned nuclear scientist, Dr Haware states that there is something beyond science, something ethereal, an experience of the divine that cannot be completely captured. The events that led to his becoming the chairman of the trust indicate that Sai ways are not linear. The Sai Way is a beautiful tribute to Sai philosophy and spirituality narrated from a lived experience coupled with information about Saibaba Sansthan.
This book examines Sai Baba of Shirdi from the standpoint of Islamic mysticism - the Deccani Sufism of 19th century Maharashtra - in order to resolve the mystery surrounding the saint. Two new pieces of work are used in this book. First, Dr Warren elucidates the English translation of part of the works of some 17th and 18th century Maharashtrian Sufi poet-saints. Secondly, she includes the English translation of the previously untranslated Urdu notebook, jotted down by Abdul - Sai Baba's faqiri pupil - from teachings based on the Qur'an given to him by his pir Sai Baba. Both of these contributions allow us to look into a world hitherto closed, and expand our awareness of the famous miracle-worker of Shirdi.
The annual sessions in Indian Culture and Spiritual Life, conducted by the Will and munificent Grace of our beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, are aimed at educating, correcting, and guiding students in the discharge of their duties in their daily life, and conducting themselves modestly and progressing steadily and steadfastly in their spiritual life, on their journey Godward. Expounding on The Nature Of Truth, the adverse effects of negative emotions, the benefits of Self-control And Detachment, and the differences between the three Vedic schools of Dvaita, Advaita, And Vishishtadvaita, Bhagawan teaches and enriches, enlightens and invigorates our lives. Conducted in the searing heat of the Indian Summer, the aptly and auspiciously named Summer Showers brings to the world the cooling showers of Swami's compassion and grace. His divine wisdom relieves devotees of the heat of their sufferings, lights the lamp of the Divine in their hearts, and brings them gently and ever steadily to the spiritual path, revealing the way to the Self. With the blessings of Bhagawan, we present Summer Showers in Brindavan, 1972.
This book is based on in-depth research that triangulates information from several primary sources, to provide hitherto unknown facts about Sai Baba, village Shirdi and some of the people who visited it during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It not only adds to the repository of knowledge about this great saint of India and the role that he played in the context of protecting his devotees during India’s struggle for freedom, but additionally provides new insights by raising questions and seeking answers through analysis of rare documents drawn from the National Archives, police records and diaries pertaining to that time as well as reviewing personal documents and literature in different languages. Written in Chicago-style Citation, it contains nine chapters dealing with different aspects of Sai Baba’s life in Shirdi. The book has several rare documents and photographs of Shirdi Sai Baba and his devotees as well as compositions of Shirdi of that time. A glossary is provided at the end of the book for ease of reference. The book will be a valuable asset not just for all those who are devotees of Sai Baba and other Sadgurus, but also for students and academicians who have an interest in India’s culture and history and in the means used by the British to understand and control developments in different parts of the country.
