Online publication: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2020-521/ Abstract [en] Sexual harassment is a major social problem in working life in the Nordic countries, which the Me Too movement of autumn 2017 demonstrated in particular. This research overview has been compiled on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers for Gender Equality with the purpose to provide an account of current knowledge about sexual harassment in the workplace in the Nordic countries and to identify the knowledge gaps to form the basis for a Nordic research initiative. The work is based on a survey of the research into the various ways in which sexual harassment is expressed in people’s working lives based on occupations of varying nature, in professional situations, in peer relations, and in meetings with customers, patients and clients. The overview is based on a systematic review of the research and other relevant literature from the Nordic countries between the years 2014–2019.

International and Nordic studies alike show that sexual harassment exists in all sectors of the labour market and that it has serious negative consequences. Therefore, the five Nordic gender equality ministers decided to allocate funding for new research on sexual harassment at work in the Nordic Region.The goal was predominantly to contribute towards new knowledge, with a focus on preventive measures and intervention methods. The research funding initiative was carried out 2021-2023 in collaboration between the Nordic sectors for gender equality, culture and working life and the Nordic Committee for Children and Young People. Available online: https://pub.norden.org/nord2023-007/ The Nordic Council of Ministers has adopted the vision that the Nordic region will be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. This knowledge review sheds light on a number of reports that use gender analyses to help understand the challenges of the green transition. It presents five thematic approaches to green jobs and concludes with a summary and key messages from these reports. The purpose of this report is to identify links between issues related to gender-segregated educational choices and gender segregation in the labour market related to the transition to green jobs. The hope is that it will help to deepen the Nordic region’s perspectives on these issues and, by extension, contribute to sustainable solutions for social development in the Nordic countries.
Nearly 80 per cent of all professors in the Nordic region are men. Gender balance in academia is therefore an important research policy issue. Hitherto it has been scarcely debated on a joint Nordic level. This report shows the status and the development in the field. The report gives examples of successful practices and highlights research policy challenges that are important to analyse in a gender and equality perspective. Given the lack of comparative investigations and research on the gender balance in academia in the Nordic region, there is a need to develop Nordic cooperation in this field. The report concludes with a number of recommendations in order to consolidate the issue of gender balance in academia as a joint policy- and research field in the Nordic region.
In 2020, the global community marks the twenty-fifth anniver-sary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – the most visionary agenda for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere. While the United Nations is undertaking and concluding a global review of the Beijing Platform for Action, this very report summarizes the five Nordic countries’ Beijing+25 review reports. It takes stock of progress made thus far – the Nordic road towards Beijing+25. Importantly, the report points towards areas of opportunities for the Nordics – where the prospects for gender equality really lie: in the agency of young people, in intersectional approaches and mind-sets and in the engagement of men and boys in the making of gender equality.

This book uniquely combines gender theory, case studies, and the legal challenges surrounding the mechanisms of gender discrimination at work. It provides the student with real-life examples from managers (based on interviews with people who experienced discrimination) that help students understand how gender discrimination operates, even when there are legal protections against it.
