This volume is rooted in two convictions: first, sexuality is far more comprehensive and more fundamental to our existence than simply genital sex, and, second, sexuality is intended by God to be neither incidental nor detrimintal to our spirituality but a fully integrated and basic dimension of that spirituality. The authors address what our sexual experience reveals about God, the ways we understand the gospel, and the ways we read scripture and tradition and attempt to live faithfully.

In many ancient faiths sexuality was the ultimate sacred act and symbolized the central holy sacrament. Lust originally meant a religious joy experienced as unity with the godhead. This gift book explores the origins and practices of religious sexuality in many cultures worldwide. Included are the erotic sculpture and paintings of ancient Greece and Rome, illustrations from Japanese pillow books, Asian temple art, erotic Indian and Persian miniatures, as well as the work of well-known European artists from the Classical, Renaissance and Romantic periods.

Discover what God says in His word regarding why your sexuality is important and why sexual immorality is devastating. Discover how to maintain purity and enjoy true intimacy in marriage - the real fulfillment and satisfaction that God intended.

This second edition explores the territory between gay - lesbian studies, literary criticism, and religious studies. The book examines the appropriation and/or subversion of the authority of the Judeo-Christian Bible by gay and lesbian writers. Texts being focused on are 'Paradise Regained' (Milton), 'Sodom' (Rochester), 'The Life to Come' (Forster), 'The Well of Loneliness' (Radclyffe Hall), 'Desert of the Heart' (Radclyffe Hall), 'Oranges are Not the Only Fruit' (Winterson), and 'Corpus Cristi' (McNally) among others.
The Bible has a way of shocking us. If Americans could still blush, we might blush at the words, "Rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love" (Proverbs 5:18-19). But, of course, sin always tries to trash God's gifts. So we can't just celebrate sex for what God made it to be; we have to fight what sin turned it into. The contributors to this unique volume encourage you to do both: celebrate and struggle. This book has something for all-men and women, married and single-from contributors like John Piper, C. J. and Carolyn Mahaney, Mark Dever, Al Mohler, Carolyn McCulley, and others.
