The purpose of the second focused review meeting by the Malaria Elimination Oversight Committee (MEOC) was to convene the MEOC and ministry of health (MoH) staff from selected countries in the E-2025 to review the results of their elimination audits, identify programmatic areas in need of strengthening, and enable the MEOC to identify any potential overarching themes that present opportunities for or threats to elimination. The report documented the process, the discussions and the outcome of this meeting. The target audience are staff from the MoH, national malaria elimination programmes, key partners and donors.
The World Malaria Report 2019 provides a comprehensive update on global and regional malaria data and trends. The report tracks investments in malaria programs and research as well as progress across all intervention areas: prevention, diagnosis, treatment, elimination, and surveillance. It also includes dedicated chapters on the consequences of malaria on maternal infant and child health the "High Burden to High Impact" approach as well as biological threats to the fight against malaria. The 2019 report is based on information received from more than 80 countries and areas with ongoing malaria transmission. The World Health Organization's Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016- 2030 has been developed with the aim to help countries to reduce the human suffering caused by the world's deadliest mosquito-borne disease. Adopted by the World Health Assembly in May 2015 it provides comprehensive technical guidance to countries and development partners for the next 15 years emphasizing the importance of scaling up malaria responses and moving towards elimination. It also highlights the urgent need to increase investments across all interventions - including preventive measures diagnostic testing treatment and disease surveillance- as well as in harnessing innovation and expanding research. By adopting this strategy WHO Member States have endorsed the bold vision of a world free of malaria and set the ambitious new target of reducing the global malaria burden by 90% by 2030. They also agreed to strengthen health systems address emerging multi-drug and insecticide resistance and intensify national cross-border and regional efforts to scale up malaria responses to protect everyone at risk.

Strains of pathogenic Escherichia coli that are characterized by their ability to produce Shiga toxins are referred to as Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). STEC are an important cause of foodborne disease and infections have been associated with a wide range of human clinical illnesses ranging from mild non-bloody diarrhoea to bloody diarrhoea (BD) and haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) which often includes kidney failure. A high proportion of patients are hospitalized, some develop end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and some die. The information requested by CCFH is divided into three main areas: the global burden of disease and source attribution; hazard identification and characterization; and monitoring, including the status of the currently available analytical methods. This report provides an overview of the work undertaken in response to the request from the CCFH and provides the conclusions and advice of the Expert Group based on the currently available information.

In this incisive postcolonial study, Jarrod Hayes uses literary analysis to examine how Francophone novelists from the Maghreb engaged in a diametric nation-building project. Their works imagined a diverse nation peopled by those who were excluded by the dominant political discourses, especially those who did not conform to traditional sexual norms. By incorporating representations of marginal sexualities, sexual dissidence, and gender insubordination, Maghrebian novelists imagined an anticolonial struggle that would result in sexual liberation and envisioned nations that could be defined and developed inclusively.
