Interludes is an honest, reflective look at one man's journey toward a strong and deep prayer relationship with God. Dr. Michael J. Easley, the former president of Moody Bible Institute, shares fresh insights on prayer, helpful ideas to strengthen one's prayer life, and, most important, a variety of heartfelt appeals to his Lord. This first book by an exciting new voice in Christian publishing has the candor and immediacy of a personal spiritual journal as well as the warm heart of a pastor. Interludes, in Dr. Easley's words, invites us to a lifelong connection with prayer. Ideal both for devotional times and brief "interludes" of refreshment.
More than ten million readers have enjoyed Robert Boyd Munger's spiritually challenging meditation on Christian discipleship. Now revised and expanded, My Heart--Christ's Home leads you to examine for yourself all the aspects of your life--considering what Christ most desires for you.
The author details the necessary characteristics for those who want to be involved (or who are involved) in ministry.
She's seen slave dungeons in Ghana. Genocide in Rwanda. Systemic sexual abuse in Brazil. Child abuse and domestic violence in the US. After forty years of counseling abuse survivors around the world, Dr. Diane Langberg, a world renowned trauma expert, remains certain that what trauma destroys, Christ can and does restore. This book will convince you, too, of the healing heart of God. But it's not a fast process, instead much patience is required from family, friends, and counselors as they wisely and respectfully help victims unpack their traumatic suffering through talking, tears, and time. And it's not a process that can be separated from the work of God in both a counselor and counselee. Dr. Langberg calls all of those who wish to help sufferers to model Jesus's sacrificial love and care in how they listen, love, and guide. The heart of God is revealed to sufferers as they grow to understand the cross of Christ and how their God came to this earth and experienced such severe suffering that he too is "well-acquainted with grief." The cross of Christ is the lens that transforms and redeems traumatic suffering and its aftermath, not only for the sufferer, but it also transforms those who walk with the suffering. This book will be a great help to anyone who loves, listens to, and seeks to help someone impacted by trauma and abuse. There is no quick fix, but there is the hope for healing through the love of God in Christ.
These pastoral letters serve as models of compassionate leadership. Jack Miller taught that a Christian leader should be the chief servant, and that right attitudes come only from a heart changed by an encounter with God. Miller leads his reader into a deeper understanding of the gospel and a life of humility, faith, and prayer. Miller gently challenges those called to serve as leaders to find their primary motivation in the glory of God alone. Book jacket.
I have written a daily devotional for the horse professional and the horse lover in all of us. This book will make your day better before you go out to the barn to do chores or work with horses. You will never look at your barn chores or riding your horses in the same way ever again. I now see the Lord in everything on our farm from watching the horses play outside to carrying fifty lb. bags of grain and cleaning stalls and finding joy in it. I think of him now in how I talk with my clients and how I run our barn. I have written this yearlong daily devotional to inspire you and make you laugh and even tear up at times. This devotional book will make you look at horses in a whole new way. It sure did for me as I was writing this book. Running a horse business or owning horses for pleasure can be great and at times it can be tough at times. I have written 366 days (yes, I've included February 29th) of stories and experiences of owning horses and working with horses and admiring horses for all they are. Each story and experience brings me back to the Lord and shows me how my life relates to everything that I do on our horse farm and in every horse I work with. At the end of each day and story is a bible verse that I truly believe relates to what the story is talking about. The more I dug deep into all that happens with horses through out their life the more I saw God in all of it. As I was writing this book I became more and more lifted up with each story I put down on paper. I pray this book will lift you up each day before you head out to the barn or give you a peace after a long day working with horses. I hope to give you a renewed excitement for all that you can be in the world of horses.
