The scaling analysis of underwater explosion phenomena is described. Particular emphasis is given to the possibilities of studying nuclear explosions by means of small scale model tests. The concept of 'consistent similitude' is stressed and is compared with dimensional analysis. The discussion covers most underwater explosion phenomena. The scaling of bubble phenomena is surveyed in detail. A rule-of-thumb is given for the scaling of field model explosions, i.e., tests in open water.
