This dissertation examined the impact of American culture and other variables related to Saudi Arabian culture on the attitudes of Saudi students in the United States toward Saudi women's participation in the labor force, the role of women as housewives and homemakers, women's associations in Saudi Arabia, equality between men and women, and female personality traits. To estimate the impact of American culture on the attitudes of Saudi students in America, they were compared with the attitudes of Saudi students in Saudi Arabia toward Saudi women's participation in the labor force which were investigated by Al-Otaiby (1987). The means and standard deviations for each item in the scale measuring attitudes toward Saudi women's participation in the labor force were utilized. The comparison showed that Saudi students in the United States had more liberal attitudes than Saudi students in Saudi Arabia.
