Savannah Micheals is a dedicated believer and disciple of Jesus Christ who has a strong desire to encourage others in their faith about salvation and the gospel message. She has served in the Social Services, Mental Health and Addictions profession for the past 30 years and utilizes her knowledge and experience when exploring the sufferings and struggles of humanity. Savannah has written this book for the purpose of inspiring and encouraging others to confront and overcome the destructive and self- defeating strategies of the "enemy of their souls". This is a spiritual "self-help" book that will assist Christians and non-Christians alike with the exploration of their faith and belief in God. This book will expose the tactics of the devil in his attempts to destroy a Christian's spiritual walk with Jesus Christ and provide "spiritual weapons of warfare" that will defeat the devil and enable a Christian to walk victoriously "in Christ".
..".so that Satan might not outwit us, for we are not ignorant of his devices." [2 Corinthians 2:11] The above scripture is well known among most Christians, yet its meaning escapes many within the body of Christ. It has been my observation that in the new millennium, Satan and his minions are indeed outwitting us as most Christians appear to be clueless about Satan's schemes, tricks, and devices. Satan's schemes are designed to lead us into sin and keep us mired there. Moreover, in utilizing his tricks, his intentions are to render us ineffective in our own faith walk as well as in leading others to Christ. In this era of special effects and technological advances, Christians may expect Satan's existence or appearance to be a dramatic one, similar to what they have seen in Hollywood films. Some incorrectly perceive Satan or the devil to be in human form wearing a red suit, having horns atop his head, and holding a pitchfork. Others imagine Satan as a yellow-eyed, winged creature with talons as portrayed in end-time prophecy novels. But instead of appearing in a vivid, conspicuous way, the devil manifests inconspicuously and subtly through evil forces and spiritual wickedness, especially in high places. This book describes twenty-one of Satan's schemes, tricks, and devices; however, this list is not, by any means, all-inclusive. The schemes that are listed are ones I identified following months of intense Bible study. Before we explore these schemes, however, a thorough understanding of Satan and his characteristics is required first.
First published in 1652, Thomas Brooks' "Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices" offers insights into the snares and schemes of the devil which are timely and relevant for today. Though centuries have passed since its writing, this timeless classic remains an amazing work of teaching on the thousands of ways Satan seeks to destroy every Christian and the thousands of ways God has provided every Christian to defeat Satan's nefarious schemes. In true Puritan style, this book is a serious tome in which the author minces no words and gets straight to the point. The good news is that, though Satan is vicious in his drive to destroy God's people, he can and must be withstood! As this book explain, God makes victory possible by strengthening His people to overcome the Tempter. An earnest, passionate, and deadly serious author, Brooks spared no effort or source to persuade and plead with his readers. His method is to lead off with one of Satan's devices (some lie that Satan seeks to impress upon us) and then show the reader various ways to combat that particular device (the remedies). Like other Puritan books of his day, Brook's writing is solidly Biblical. Almost every remedy Brooks offers reminds the reader of some Biblical truth-urging them to think on it, consider, ponder and soak it in. Instead of some magic mantra or special prayer tactic, Brooks simply shines the light of Scriptures on the problems each Christian will face. Brooks was fond of quoting "wise heathens" (such as Zeno and Seneca) in his writing. His willingness to draw from non-Biblical sources is a good example of just how broadminded the Puritans really were, even as they walked the straight and narrow. The free use of Biblical truth from the lips of pagan authors shows a breadth of thinking and outlook often unattributed to Christian authors of such unbending theology and purpose.
This first book in a feminist space opera duology follows seven resistance fighters who will free the galaxy from the ruthless Tholosian Empire--or die trying. When Eris faked her death, she thought she had left her old life as the heir to the galaxy's most ruthless empire behind. But her recruitment by the Novantaen Resistance, an organization opposed to the empire's voracious expansion, throws her right back into the fray. Eris has been assigned a new mission: to infiltrate a spaceship ferrying deadly cargo and return the intelligence gathered to the Resistance. But her partner for the mission, mechanic and hotshot pilot Cloelia, bears an old grudge against Eris, making an already difficult infiltration even more complicated. When they find the ship, they discover more than they bargained for: three fugitives with firsthand knowledge of the corrupt empire's inner workings. Together, these women possess the knowledge and capabilities to bring the empire to its knees. But the clock is ticking: the new heir to the empire plans to disrupt a peace summit with the only remaining alien empire, ensuring the empire’s continued expansion. If they can find a way to stop him, they will save the galaxy. If they can't, millions may die.
This highly readable--and useful--examination of Satan and spiritual warfare was written out of necessity. In recent years, pastor and teacher Dennis McCallum found himself fielding more and more questions about Satan. He wanted to recommend a book on the subject, but those he found either reflected extreme beliefs, contained little biblical instruction, used fear tactics, or were poorly written. In Satan and His Kingdom, McCallum clarifies what is true and what is false about Satan, demons, and demonic control--both historically and today. He shows readers how to effectively battle the enemy individually and corporately, all the while keeping their focus on Christ, not Satan. A reliable resource for pastors, lay leaders, and any Christian wanting to know more about evil in the world.
Dr. Wiersbe zeroes in on Satan's attacks as deceiver, destroyer, ruler, and accuser. He emphasizes that conquering the enemy comes by obeying God's truth.
A total of 57 lectures of George Whitefield, one of the most celebrated preachers of England and the American colonies in the 18th century, are presented here. Together, these lectures offer a profound insight into an innovative and often controversial preacher. A man of immense gifts for expression, George Whitefield would commonly drive an audience to tears with his sincere expressions of faith. Pushing the boundaries of his era, Whitefield rebelled against church authority and claimed that God himself permitted that he preach itinerant indoors and in the open air. Whitefield rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most pivotal Christians of his era. Too poor to afford tutelage, the young Whitefield managed to avoid tuition by acting as a servant to other students; assisting them to wash; cleaning their quarters; and carrying their books and satchels. Such menial work appeared to fire George Whitefield's spirit; he converted to Christianity and fervently attended to his studies thereafter.
In this Mini Book, Mike describes several ways that Satan attempts to destroy a growing congregation.
