Naval Station (NAVSTA), Treasure Island is located in the San Francisco Bay, midway between San Francisco and Oakland, California. Major functions on the 403 acre island include fleet support to six homeported and numerous other ships visiting San Francisco; extensive training administered by the tennant Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC); headquarters of the Command Naval Base, San Francisco (COMNAVBASE), the Northern California/Nevada Regional Coordinator; headquarters of the Twelfth Marine Corps District; enlisted and officer family housing on Treasure Island. (711 units) and Yerba Buena Island (115 units) respectively, Naval Reserve training headquarters and facilities; a Personnel Support Activity; extensive recreation and club facilities; bachelor quarters; a regional Naval Legal Services Office, a Navy Brig and Correctional Custody Unit; and numberous other activities and functions.
