Noted as a copy. Written in Henry Knox's hand, bearing his signature as Genl. Knox in the body. Discusses an unspecified business idea of Henry Knox's, which Ogden supports wholeheartedly. Writes, the information in his possession will I believe turn to good account, indeed I cannot see any reason to doubt its success. Says the General (Knox) will inform Morris of the plan and how it will be executed. If Morris believes it to be as solid of a plan that Ogden does, advises that their company invest a quarter share into it. Written at Delaware Works, located in what is now Morrisville, Pennsylvania, near Trenton, New Jersey.
Writes that he has given much thought about a plan of Knox's and believes it to be a very [favorable] idea. Forwards a letter (refer to GLC02437.03672) to Mr. [Gouverneur] Morris. Notes he left the letter open for Knox to read. Written at Delaware Works, located in what is now Morrisville, Pennsylvania, near Trenton, New Jersey.
The New-York Historical Society's drawing collection is one of the earliest assembled in the United States, yet its trove of over 8,000 sheets and 75 rare sketchbooks is surprisingly unknown. Drawn by New York presents over 200 highlights, spanning six centuries, from 16th-century avian watercolours and a Dutch view of New Amsterdam (1650), to the facade of St. Patrick's Cathedral captured from inside Rockefeller Center by Richard Haas (2002) and representations of the World Trade Center, both before and after September 11th 2001. There are works by Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt and John Singer Sargent, sheets by Asher B. Durand, and a cache of 500 watercolours by John James Audubon (including those for The Birds of America, 1827-38). Over 200 Outline Drawings by George Catlin record long-vanished Native American cultures.
