Sad Lover Boy is my first literary child. I think I've birthed some good words that are interesting to read. This is a largely personal poetry book. I think the juxtaposition throughout this book is fun, one minute you might be reading a serious passage about my depressive view of the state of the world, then the next you're reading a weird poem I sent a girl that's a conversation between a duck and a pigeon, but there's meaning and thought behind both. In essence, these are poems from someone who's spending their 20s in the 2020s. If you're older than me this might provide interesting insights, if you're the same age enjoy the zoomer doomer humour, if you're younger probably don't read this there's bad words.
The Sad Lover Boy, the Vampire & the Lime King, the second book of poems from Brandon Hildreth is a collection of bittersweet loving sadness and hateful goodness. It molds together to form a delicate truffle fit for a queen or a king. Whether you're a saddened, brokenhearted, lost and wandering lover from which selflessness and magical forgotten powers ooze, a torn and tormented sucker of vital bodily essences hiding in the shadows of some dark abandoned manmade structure waiting for eternity to bring you peace and happiness, or even a stargazer struggling to push the mental cheese off of its celestial cracker in order to find that orphaned inner child walking the hallways and corridors of the mind; you will find waiting for you within the pages of this book an interesting and fantastical journey.
As The Giving Tree turns fifty, this timeless classic is available for the first time ever in ebook format. This digital edition allows young readers and lifelong fans to continue the legacy and love of a classic that will now reach an even wider audience. "Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy." So begins a story of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This moving parable for all ages offers a touching interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return. Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation. Shel Silverstein's incomparable career as a bestselling children's book author and illustrator began with Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back. He is also the creator of picture books including A Giraffe and a Half, Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros?, The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and the perennial favorite The Giving Tree, and of classic poetry collections such as Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Every Thing On It, Don't Bump the Glump!, and Runny Babbit. And don't miss the other Shel Silverstein ebooks, Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic!
"Sybil and Marty, indifferent to their daughter in life, left her a small fortune and the cryptic advice, 'It would do well to find a passion.' ... She willfully sets out to become a mother who is nothing if not passionate"--Jacket.
A boy gets rid of everything that might make him sad and is sad anyway until he realizes that those things are also what makes him happy, and one emotion is impossible without the other.
A paranoid delusion and fantastic comedy in the service of social realism. This is the tale of an orphan whose only known background is that of the city itself, a scaffold-covered grid sewn together with 'Do Not Cross' tape. Here Love is expressed through corrective surgery, and families meet across boardroom tables.
The Blue Valley series is not your typical love story. It is a journey through one’s past … maybe even a story resembling someone close to you. It’s our story. Welcome to the college years … Love has not been easy for Tessa Ross and Lucas Links, but they have managed to overcome situations that so many others in their lives haven’t. And through all of their difficulties, neither have ever denied the love they have for one another. But sometimes love isn’t enough. What new joys, pains, and decisions will they make as they take their first steps into adulthood? This is love, not a fairy tale. Warning: Highly Emotional! This book contains volatile characters in real-life situations that may be triggering to some readers.
"Five interconnected stories that weave a subtle science-fictional web stretching out from the present into the future, presenting eerily plausible possibilities for social media, corporate sponsorship, and humanity, as our world collides with a mysterious alternate universe."--
