The report presents the findings of a scoping exercise directed at improving methodologies for targeting investment to roads and road transport as part of the logistic chain. The key objectives of this project can be summarised as follows: 1. to review recent related developments both in Australia and internationally, to improve the understanding of the Australian and overseas perspectives associated with logistics performance characteristics and transport's influence on logistics performance; 2. to report the results of industry consultations conducted with representatives of transport industry, logistics service providers, shippers and infrastructure provider agencies; and 3. to develop an indicative plan that can be used to improve the methodology for targeting investment in roads and road transport as part of the logistics chain.
