Since 1971 the European Commission has produced an annual report on competition policy developments in the European Union. The report provides detailed information on the most important policy and legislative initiatives, as well as on decisions adopted by the European Commission in application of EC competition law (Articles 81,82 and 86 to 89 EC, and the merger regulation). The 2006 report describes: how the instruments of competition policy (antitrust, merger and State aid rules) were further developed and applied in general; how a mix of these and other instruments was used in selected priority economic sectors such as energy, financial services, telecommunications and IT; cooperation with national competition authorities and courts within the European Union, and with international organisations and external countries; cooperation with other EU institutions in the field of competition. This volume contains the report adopted by the Commission on 25 June 2007 and a more detailed Commission staff working document. It is available for sale in English, French and German from EU Bookshop and agreed sales agents. The report adopted by the Commission is also available as a separate free publication in 20 languages and can be ordered from EU Bookshop, Europe Direct centres and representations and delegations of the Commission.
