The publication of this work, recommended by the Secretary of War and by the House of Representatives, was not acted upon by the Senate. The materials are so arranged that the work can be speedily completed when authority to print is granted, and I would respectfully renew the recommendation made in my previous annual reports, that authority be given to publish one thousand copies of the work. Legislation is necessary to authorize the Congressional Printer to publish an additional edition of complete copies of the Medical and Surgical History of the War, and this I recommend.
