El autor parte de los conceptos básicos y de los principios fundamentales del Trabajo Social Comunitario para describir unos modelos de redes comunitarias útiles en la práctica profesional, en algunos campos de más relieve social, como la convivencia en la comunidad, la violencia comunitaria, las comunidades educativas, el maltrato y sus nuevos abordajes, etc. La supervisión en Trabajo Social se hace mediante el diseño de un proyecto de investigación en el que se estudian nueve casos del ámbito del Trabajo Social y seis casos de otro ámbito distinto. Sus resultados y conclusiones son de especial relevancia tanto para el campo profesional de los trabajadores sociales como para otros campos afines. Los resultados evidencian que para los miembros de una comunidad la inmensa mayoría de los problemas están relacionados con no poder ver lo que les sucede (metáfora del punto ciego), y en este sentido el efecto de estas investigaciones proponen soluciones novedosas.

Based on twenty case studies of universities worldwide, and on a survey administered to leaders in 101 universities, this open access book shows that, amidst the significant challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, universities found ways to engage with schools to support them in sustaining educational opportunity. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach
In the absence of a widely accepted and common definition of social enterprise (SE), a large research project, the International Comparative Social Enterprise Models (ICSEM) Project, was carried out over a five-year period; it involved more than 200 researchers from 55 countries and relied on bottom-up approaches to capture the SE phenomenon. This strategy made it possible to take into account and give legitimacy to locally embedded approaches, thus resulting in an analysis encompassing a wide diversity of social enterprises, while simultaneously allowing for the identification of major SE models to delineate the field on common grounds at the international level. These SE models reveal or confirm an overall trend towards new ways of sharing the responsibility for the common good in today's economies and societies. We tend to consider as good news the fact that social enterprises actually stem from all parts of the economy. Indeed, societies are facing many complex challenges at all levels, from the local to the global level. The diversity and internal variety of SE models are a sign of a broadly shared willingness to develop appropriate although sometimes embryonic--responses to these challenges, on the basis of innovative economic/business models driven by a social mission. In spite of their weaknesses, social enterprises may be seen as advocates for and vehicles of the general interest across the whole economy. Of course, the debate about privatisation, deregulation and globalised market competition--all factors that may hinder efforts in the search for the common good-has to be addressed as well.
