The authors present measurements of the [gamma][gamma]* → [pi]° transition form factor for the momentum transfer range Q2 = 4-40 GeV2 and the [gamma][gamma]* → [eta]{sub c} transition form factor for the range Q2 = 2-50 GeV2. The results of the measurement of the [eta]{sub c} mass, total and two-photon widths are also presented.
We present a measurement of the total width[Lambda][sub tot][sup[eta][sub c]] and mass M[sub[eta][sub c]] of the[eta][sub c] meson with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-factory at SLAC. The results based on a data sample of 88 fb[sub -1] are[Lambda][sub tot][sup[eta][sub c]]= (33.3[+-] 2.5(stat.)[+-] 0.8(sys.))MeV/c[sup 2] and M[sub[eta][sub c]]= (2983.3[+-] 1.2[+-] 1.8) MeV/c[sup 2]. An enhancement observed around 3.63 GeV/c[sup 2] can be interpreted as an evidence for the[eta][sub c](2S) state. In addition a preliminary measurement of the[tau] lepton lifetime using 30.2 fb[sup -1] is described. The measured[tau] lifetime is:[tau][sub[tau]]= (290.8[+-] 1.5(stat.)[+-] 1.6(syst.)) fs.
This volume brings together the latest developments within a wide spectrum of topics in particle physics. Covering both theoretical and experimental aspects, areas such as neutrino and astroparticle physics, tests of the Standard Model and beyond, heavy quark physics, non-perturbative QCD, quantum gravity effects and cosmology, physics at the future accelerators, etc. are discussed.
Recent experimental results in two-photon physics are reviewed. Possibilities for future experimentation at high [gamma][gamma] collision energies are discussed. 95 refs., 12 figs., 7 tabs.
This volume contains contributions to the XXI International Symposium on Lepton and Photon Interactions at High Energies, held at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. It gives up-to-date reviews of all aspects of particle physics, written by leading practitioners in the field. The review nature of all the articles makes this volume more accessible to students and researchers in other fields of physics. In addition to new experimental data and advances in theory, the future directions and prospects for the field are covered. The proceedings have been selected for coverage in: ?
