For the average church goer or person, worship generally refers to the activities that takes places within the confines of a church building, usually on a Sunday morning. For the average pentecostal or charismatic christian, it particularly refers to the segment within a church service where songs are sang with some musical accompaniment. While the above "descriptions" may relate to worship in a sense, the question to be asked is - What really constitute true worship from the perspective of the bible? The aim of this book is to get to the heart of the matter by establishing that, true worship is not so much the various "activities" we may be carrying out in God's name, but it is essentially a lifestyle underlined by a certain heart condition that God approves of - a passionate desire to obey God in our daily lives. As Jesus said, God is searching for true worshipers who will worship God in spirit (from the heart) and in truth (by obedience). My hope is that, as we apply these thoughts and principles found in this book to our lives, we'll be chosen to be part of the remnant that God will use in these last days before the coming of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
An examination of the 12 stones used by Elijah to rebuild the broken altar of God on the day that he challenged the prophets of Baal. These stones represent the 12 tribes of Israel, each with unique characteristics that we need in the church and the world today before God's fire and power will fall as it did for Elijah.
The Holy Spirit has become a stranger.
Here are readings for the full calendar year, with a Scripture passage for each day, a meditation and a prayer. Angus Buchan gave his life to Jesus on 18th February, 1979. Shortly afterwards a friend commented that there was something different in him: the old anger and aggression had been replaced by joy and peace. The following day, walking through the fields, his friend gave his life to his new-found Saviour. -He was the first person I had ever led to Jesus Christ,- recalls Angus. -I was an ambassador of Jesus Christ. I was new at it, but He gave me the words to say. All I had to do was to be obedient and share with my friend. The Holy Spirit did the rest.- Over the years Angus has striven hard to become an effective ambassador for his Lord. A popular speaker and author, he has addressed hundreds of thousands at rallies, and counselled people one by one, helping them to find faith and grow in spiritual stature. The core of his ministry has been his daily time alone with Jesus, usually in the very early morning, before the demands of the day push through his door. In this collection of daily devotions Angus shares the insights and convictions that have come to him as he has spent time with his Lord. It will help you to live a victorious Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Strongholds can't be broken without the boldness to confront them. After reading this book, you will have the courage to walk in the same anointing as the prophet Elijah to boldly declare the power of the Lord and break off the strongholds holding our world captive to the darkness. As it was in the days of Elijah, a great number of God's people today dwell in a nation that is on a path of progressive moral decline. America has the most liberal abortion standard in the world. Christians are hooked on pornography. The homosexual agenda is finding acceptance even in the church. Divorce is on the rise in the church. Human trafficking is manifesting as the ugly side of globalization. Those who were once considered great leaders are now preaching a doctrine of inclusion, with Christian who leaders or that are afraid to say on national television that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. With the turn of a new decade plagued with violence, sickness, disease, and economic instability, the people cry out for the prophets to speak. And God is raising up a prophetic people who will help prepare the way for His purposes in our generation. A new company of Elijah prophets--holy, bold, and uncompromising--are being equipped to restore the spiritual destiny of the church in our generation. In this book, Michelle McClain-Walters challenges readers to awaken to the call God is stirring in the earth and stand up as modern-day Elijahs who will partner with the Holy Spirit to change the culture by turning hearts back to God. Readers will be encouraged to: Identify the call of God on their lives in this hour and ask, "Am I an Elijah?" Learn what it takes to walk in the spirit and power of Elijah and where they may be in their own journey Understand the different roles miracles play during times of revival, reformation, and restoration Learn to pray prayers that move heaven and shake earth, as well as how to persist in prayer This book will empower readers to discover their prophetic destiny in this hour and position themselves to receive a double portion of the spirit and power of Elijah.
Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 Prayer is the primary means for engaging God and releasing answers to life’s most perplexing problems. Jesus declared, Men ought to pray at all times and not lose heart. #2 The problem of unanswered prayer is not God’s unwillingness to meet the needs of these spiritual seekers, but a missing spiritual ingredient that can unlock the realm of answered prayer. The promise Jesus has given me for this book is that hundreds of thousands of people will find answers to prayer and to some of life’s most perplexing problems. #3 One of the greatest joys of my life is my friendship with Robert Henderson. He has helped me understand the Courts of Heaven more deeply. Prayer is a critical spiritual technology that can help us engage the power of God. #4 The Bible describes three different realms of prayer, and it is important to note that they are not in an ascending order of importance. They are all equally important, but they require different spiritual activities and dispositions to be successful in them.
What is found in this series unveils an entirely different side of C. K. Barrett, a side one might never have known about if one had knowledge only of his famous commentaries and monographs. Herein lies a goodly selection of Kingsley's sermons preached largely in small- and medium-sized Methodist churches in the northeast of England, though often elsewhere in England and around the world. Fred Barrett was not the scholar his son was, but on close inspection, one can most definitely see the impact of the father on the son when it came to preaching. It seems right to include as many sermons from both of these men as we can in this series. One thing sorely lacking in much preaching these days is in-depth engagement with both the biblical text and one's tradition and theology. The sermons in these volumes demonstrate what such preaching can look like. This third volume presents sermons from both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
An introduction to the Old Testament books of 1 & 2 Kings is followed by a verse-by-verse commentary on the text.
