Random Remembrances contains forty-four autobiographical sketches picked at random, hence the title. These are all true stories based upon true events, mostly during the thirties, the period of the Great Depression, into the WW2 years and later which include my wife and family.(The first, The Birth is mostly my imagination, but its true in essence.) Growing up then wasnt easy, but that hasnt changed, its just different today. This is what it was like without television, computers, and transportation other than buses and streetcars. Very few moms had an automobile available; you walked instead of public transit, which cost about five cents.
Traces the long and successful career of the award-winning country music group, from their early years in the late 1950s until their retirement in 2000.
"The Music of The Statler Brothers: An Anthology is an in-depth look at the musical career of The Statler Brothers' forty-year reign as country music's premier group. Lead singer, Don Reid, writes about each song ever recorded by the Grammy Award-winning foursome and gives backstage insight to the writings and the selections of each composition. A songwriter with two-hundred-fifty recordings of music by his own hand and a member of both the Country Music and Gospel Music Halls of Fame, Reid gives meaningful and often humorous insight into the day-to-day workings and trials of the music industry. There has been no other book by someone in the recording business that compares with this song-by-song chronicle. Unique in its content and style, this anthology offers anyone with an interest in the entertainment business more than a glimpse behind the curtain. Covering forty-five albums of original music, this is a must-read for all Statler Brothers fans and lovers of country and gospel music alike"--

Random Memories We Left Behind are written words that will take you from a teenager’s journey into the sunset of his life. Every page is filled with the loves, sorrows, and joys two intertwined souls share from their courtship until one partner takes his last breath.
A rich anthology of memorial tributes that offers a welcome reminder that, although words cannot necessarily assuage grief, they can provide tremendous comfort and perspective during our times of loss. The likes of Dr. Martin Luther King, Benjamin Franklin, W.H. Auden and Diana, Princess of Wales, as well as ordinary folk from the seventeenth century to the present are mourned and celebrated in the memorable eulogies, condolence letters, poems and epitaphs collected in these pages.
The stained glass Blue Heron on the front cover filled the window of our Airstream Motor Home for 8 years. When we decided it was time to hang up our motor home keys and move to Normandy Farms Estates outside Philadelphia, Thea and I couldn't leave it behind. It is a great reminder of the 18 years when we spent so many months "on the road." After our second retirement, once from work and second from caravanning, I started to write about what I'd seen or remembered. There was a publication that accepted my amateur efforts, the Normandy News. As you read the articles, there is no theme or serious point of view, just thoughts of a ninety-year old, sharing stories with my growing family and many friends: telling it like I saw it.
