Rain in the Wind brilliantly transforms two of the most life-giving elements in the universe; water and air, so they can be presented to you in a poetic and artistic form. The distinct relationship between poetry, art, and nature is displayed in a way that will heighten the passion of your awareness for what is truly beautiful. This piece of a literary dream touches the senses of humanity with enlightenment and a great refreshing for dry and weary souls. Rain in the Wind is an innovative collaborative work that shares the art of Dhanaraj Keezhara of India and the poetic and inspirational writings of local Tucson, AZ author Deneene A. Collins. The artwork exhibited in this book are embellished by the lively words that describe them and communicate their deep-seated meanings. The overall theme of this collection of creative masterpieces is the theoretical effect of rain upon our lives. In this book you will see pictures and read words that detail the influences and expressions of rain.
With words and photographs, Rain in Our Hearts takes readers into Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 196th LIB, Americal Division in 1969?1970. Jim Logue, a professional photographer, was drafted and served as an infantryman; he also carried a camera. ?In order to take my mind off the war,? he would say, ?I took pictures.? Logue?s photos showcase the daily lives of infantrymen: setting up a night laager, chatting with local children, making supply drops, and ?humping? rucksacks miles each day in search of the enemy. His camera records the individual experiences and daily lives of the men who fought the war. Accompanying Logue?s over 100 photographs is the narrative written by Gary D. Ford. Wanting to reconstruct the story of Alpha Company during the time in which Logue served, Ford and Logue trekked across America to meet with and interview every surviving member whom they could locate and contact. Each chapter of Rain in Our Hearts focuses on the viewpoint and life of one member of Alpha Company, including aspects of life before and after Vietnam. The story of the Company?s movements and missions over the year unfold as readers are introduced to one soldier at a time. Taken together, Rain in Our Hearts offers readers a window into the words and sights of Alpha Company?s Vietnam War.
Difficult or painful circumstances are not a thing anyone ever desires to go through, but in those moments we can learn Gods presence in the most amazing ways! Like the Exodus from Egypt, God does not draw us into the desert places to abandon us. He draws us into the desert places to reveal Himself to us as we go with Him to our place of promise! His presence and provision on the journey is where we get to become very familiar with Him Himself and learn how faithful He is. The rain is His provision. The challenge is the desert conditions. Our faith and trust connect us to the Provider!
Called to Travail explains in depth the process and purpose of our fiery trials and Gods ultimate desire to birth His presence and power into His end-time intercessors. We are on the verge of an unprecedented outpouring of the Spirit and a double-portion anointing that will cause devils to tremble and the gates of hell to crumble. Jesus will choose us in our furnace of affliction as we respond in trust and faith. Through deep travail and intercession, we will see millions of captive souls released from the strongholds of sin. Hear the cry of Jesus in this book, calling you to a place of deeper intimacy and trust and to abandon everything and run with Him into the harvest field.
Praying together has the power to transform you and the world around you. The idea of this women's magazine originated with Samuel Williams, a Cincinnati Methodist, who thought that Christian women needed a magazine less worldly than Godey's Lady's Book and Snowden's Lady's Companion. Written largely by ministers, this exceptionally well-printed little magazine contained well-written essays of a moral character, plenty of poetry, articles on historical and scientific matters, and book reviews. Among western writers were Alice Cary, who contributed over a hundred sketches and poems, her sister Phoebe Cary, Otway Curry, Moncure D. Conway, and Joshua R. Giddings; and New England contributors included Mrs. Lydia Sigourney, Hannah F. Gould, and Julia C.R Dorr. By 1851, each issue published a peice of music and two steel plates, usually landscapes or portraits. When Davis E. Clark took over the editorship in 1853, the magazine became brighter and attained a circulation of 40,000. Unlike his predecessors, Clark included fictional pieces and made the Repository a magazine for the whole family. After the war it began to decline and in 1876 was replaced by the National Repository. The Ladies' Repository was an excellent representative of the Methodist mind and heart. Its essays, sketches, and poems, its good steel engravings, and its moral tone gave it a charm all its own. -- Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
