Excerpt from Guide to Queensland: Compiled From Official and Private Records The Opening of an extensive display of minerals from the Colony of Queensland, together with a collection of agricultural and industrial products, in the Queensland Court, Greater Britain Exhibition, Earl's Court, London, has been considered a favourable opportunity for the publication of the following pages, which embrace a careful re vision of the earlier edition and 'the addition of much matter which had been considered essential to the character of a Guide. A special feature in this connection is the fairly copious index which has been prepared, by which the value of the information has been much enhanced.' The limits of the work having precluded any attempt to produce an exhaustive guide to the Colony, the endeavours of the writer have rather been directed towards presenting to the inquirer such informa tion respecting the climatic, social, and industrial conditions of the country, the resources and prospects of agricultural and mineral produc tion, and the most recent legislation regarding mining and land, as will be of service to the investor on this side, or to those who intend to make their home in the Colony.
