There's no better introduction to the newest version of Symantec's widely used Q&A database software than Q&A Made Easy, 2nd Ed.. After introducing readers to database principles, this book starts off with organizing data into files, progresses to turning files into reports and merging those reports with documents, and finally using macros and other higher-level features for maximum productivity.
The newly revised and thoroughly updated Environmental Compliance Made Easy handbook from Government Institutes' popular 'Made Easy' series reorganizes thousands of pages worth of federal environmental regulatory programs into one easy-to-use compliance resource, organized by program. Intended as both a beginner's guide and a veteran's reference, this edition provides readers with a concise summary of the major environmental programs and introduces readers to the laws and regulations programs, key requirements, responsibilities of regulated parties, and compliance and auditing processes of each. In addition to covering air quality management, hazardous materials management, impact assessments, and underground storage tank management, this new edition now also covers homeland security and emergency response, compliance audits, information technology initiatives and innovation, pesticide management, property transfer and due diligence, solid waste and toxic substance management, and training. Readers will emerge with a fundamental understanding of which environmental management programs they should consider and how to implement them when developing proactive, successful, and reliable regulatory compliance programs. Key compliance sections include applicable methods, strategies for reviewing compliance status and implementing environmental programs, and checklists based on actual agency protocols. Readers can use the checklists to complete portions of their company's overall environmental compliance plan.

This textbook mainly focuses on structural, thermal, electronic, dielectric, magnetic and superconducting behaviors of materials in their solid states. This book was motivated to present those core topics of Solid State Physics in the easy way. The text has a range from basics to advanced and experimental topics in Solid State Physics. We have tried to write the text as easy as it is to comprehend with easy-to-understand figures and derivation. Majority of the subject matters of this book were originated from lecture notes of Solid State Physics courses delivered to undergraduate and postgraduate students by the first author at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. It will serve two main goals. The first goal is to provide the beginners, both major and non-major physics students, a solid foundation in Solid State Physics through the supplied imaginative figures in most of the topics. The second goal is to enhance understanding of the advanced and applied topics through our rigorous presentation of the text and mathematical derivations in the book.
In A Dictionary of Early Middle Turkic Hendrik Boeschoten describes the lexical material contained in works written in different varieties of Eastern Turkic before the classical age of Chaghatay.
This book presents an organized approach to quality management, control, and improvement. Because quality problems usually are the outcome of uncontrolled or excessive variability, statistical tools and other analytical methods play an important role in solving these problems. However, these techniques need to be implemented within a management structure that will ensure success. This text focuses on both the management structure and the statistical and analytical tools. It organizes and presents this material according to many years of teaching, research, and professional practice across a wide range of business and industrial settings.
This book is the result of a group of researchers from different disciplines asking themselves one question: what does it take to develop a computer interface that listens, talks, and can answer questions in a domain? First, obviously, it takes specialized modules for speech recognition and synthesis, human interaction management (dialogue, input fusion, and multimodal output fusion), basic question understanding, and answer finding. While all modules are researched as independent subfields, this book describes the development of state-of-the-art modules and their integration into a single, working application capable of answering medical (encyclopedic) questions such as "How long is a person with measles contagious?" or "How can I prevent RSI?". The contributions in this book, which grew out of the IMIX project funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, document the development of this system, but also address more general issues in natural language processing, such as the development of multidimensional dialogue systems, the acquisition of taxonomic knowledge from text, answer fusion, sequence processing for domain-specific entity recognition, and syntactic parsing for question answering. Together, they offer an overview of the most important findings and lessons learned in the scope of the IMIX project, making the book of interest to both academic and commercial developers of human-machine interaction systems in Dutch or any other language. Highlights include: integrating multi-modal input fusion in dialogue management (Van Schooten and Op den Akker), state-of-the-art approaches to the extraction of term variants (Van der Plas, Tiedemann, and Fahmi; Tjong Kim Sang, Hofmann, and De Rijke), and multi-modal answer fusion (two chapters by Van Hooijdonk, Bosma, Krahmer, Maes, Theune, and Marsi). Watch the IMIX movie at www.nwo.nl/imix-film. Like IBM's Watson, the IMIX system described in the book gives naturally phrased responses to naturally posed questions. Where Watson can only generate synthetic speech, the IMIX system also recognizes speech. On the other hand, Watson is able to win a television quiz, while the IMIX system is domain-specific, answering only to medical questions. "The Netherlands has always been one of the leaders in the general field of Human Language Technology, and IMIX is no exception. It was a very ambitious program, with a remarkably successful performance leading to interesting results. The teams covered a remarkable amount of territory in the general sphere of multimodal question answering and information delivery, question answering, information extraction and component technologies."
