Cheetah and Catwoman have teamed up to create a kitty crime wave in Gotham City--can Batman and Wonder Woman capture them with a golden ball of string?
There's something special about Max. He may look like your regular ginger flabby tabby, but unlike most tabbies, he can actually communicate with his human, reporter for the Hampton Cove Gazette Odelia Poole. Max takes a keen interest in the goings-on in their small town, by snooping around with his best friends Dooley, a not-too-bright ragamuffin, and Harriet, a gorgeous white Persian. Their regular visits to the police station, the barbershop and the doctor's office provide them with those precious and exclusive scoops that have made Odelia the number one reporter in town. But when suddenly the body of a bestselling writer is discovered buried in the last Long Island outhouse, and a new policeman arrives in town to solve the murder, it looks like things are about to change in Hampton Cove. Detective Chase Kingsley doesn't take kindly to nosy reporters like Odelia snooping around his crime scene or interviewing his suspects. And to make matters worse, he's got a cat of his own in Brutus, a buff, black bully, who, just like his owner, likes to lay down the law. Soon Brutus isn't just restricting access to the police station, but he's putting the moves on Harriet, breaking up the band. Now it's all Odelia, Max and Dooley can do to try and solve the murder, in spite of Detective Kingsley's and Brutus's protestations, and show the overbearing cop and his bullyragging feline how things are done in Hampton Cove. Will Odelia find the killer before Detective Kingsley does? And will Max prevent Brutus from moving in on his territory and taking over the town? Find out in Purrfect Murder, the first book in the new Mysteries of Max series.

My name is Dooley and I'm a ragamuffin. I'm also Max's best friend, and because he's my best friend, he asked me to write this introduction to our new mystery. I've never written an introduction before, so I hope you'll forgive me if it's not very good. Okay, let's begin. So first there was the woman who was murdered on the beach. Chase didn't know who killed her, and because he really wanted to find out, he went on television and asked people if they could help him. Then there was the blackmail. A very nice woman named Rosa Bond was being blackmailed about a dark secret in her past, and so she asked Odelia to help her. And it worked. Well, more or less. The next day the blackmailer was found dead. The good news was that Rosa got her money back. The bad news was that he was murdered, which isn't very nice. Also, now we had to try and catch the killer, which is a lot of work. A lot of talking to a lot of people and asking them a lot of very personal questions. Good thing Chase is a cop. When people don't want to talk he can arrest them. And then there was the boy who drowned in the pool. And this is where I got confused. Was he murdered or not? Some people said he was, and others said that he wasn't. And for a while even Max didn't know, which is weird, since he's the smartest cat I know. Lucky for us (and for Rosa Bond) he finally figured it out. I just knew he would. Max is my hero. Even when things look pretty hopeless, and Chase has to go on television to ask people to help him, Max figures it out. I don't know how he does it. Brutus says it's because he has a big head. I don't know if that's true. Well, I think that's it. I wanted to tell you who the murderer was but Max said I shouldn't. He says it would spoil the fun. I don't know what's so funny about murder, but then I guess Max knows best. Did I mention he's very clever? And now if you'll excuse me, I have some Discovery Channel to watch. There's a very interesting documentary on about tardigrades, also known as water bears or moss piglets. I think I'm going to enjoy that. Moss piglets. Is it a piece of moss that looks like a piglet or a piglet that likes to eat moss? I have absolutely no idea, but I'm going to find out!
Krypto, the last pup of Krypton, arrives on Earth and meets his host family and new friend Kevin.
Meet small town librarian Kathleen Paulson and her fantastical felines, Hercules and Owen, in the first novel in the New York Times bestselling Magical Cats Mystery series. When librarian Kathleen Paulson moved to Mayville Heights, Minnesota, she had no idea that two strays would nuzzle their way into her life. Owen is a tabby with a catnip addiction and Hercules is a stocky tuxedo cat who shares Kathleen's fondness for Barry Manilow. But beyond all the fur and purrs, there's something more to these kitties. When murder interrupts Mayville’s Wild Rose Summer Music Festival, Kathleen finds herself the prime suspect. More stunning is her realization that Owen and Hercules are truly special—perhaps even magical. Now, with a little legwork from her four-legged friends, Kathleen may be able to solve this purr-fect murder...

But first they have to pacify Shana's French Bulldog Kane, who just might be in possession of the clue that breaks the case.
