Sailing Directions 124 (Enroute) covers the East Coast of South America from Playa Point in Venezuela to Cabo de Hornos near the southernmost tip of Argentina to the South Sandwich Islands. It is issued in conjunction with Sailing Directions 160 (Planning Guide) South Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean. The companion volume is Sailing Directions 120.
Sailing Directions 125 (Enroute) covers the West Coast of South America from Cabo de Hornos in Argentina to the Northwestern tip of Colombia, including Isla de Pascua and Isla Sala-y-Gomez. It is used in conjunction with Sailing Directions 120 (Planning Guide) Pacific Ocean and Southeast Asia. Companion volumes are Sailing Directions 126 and 127.
The Sight Reduction Tables for Marine Navigation (Pub 229) is published in six volumes, each of which contains two-eight degree zones of latitude with a one-degree overlap between volumes. They are designed to facilitate the practice of celestial navigation at sea. The tables are primarily used with the intercept method of sight reduction by entering arguments of latitude, declination, and local hour angle and obtaining tabulated altitudes and azimuth angles. The tables are prepared and published by NIMA on an as-needed basis.

Purpose: The Coast Guard will use this information to inspect ships and enforce compliance with MARPOL 73/78 and 33 CFR 151 Subpart A. Routine Uses: The information will be used by and disclosed to authorized Coast Guard personnel to determine that evidence of compliance is on board, the condition of the ship and its equipment corresponds substantially with the vesselÕs particulars, whether a vessel has discharged any oil or oily mixtures in violation of MARPOL 73/78 and 33 CFR 151 Subpart A. Any external disclosures of data within this record will be made in accordance with the DHS/USCG-013, Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE) System of Records Notice, 74 Federal Register 30305, (June 25, 2009).
