This book contains papers in the fields of engineering pedagogy education, public–private partnership and entrepreneurship education, research in engineering pedagogy, evaluation and outcomes assessment, Internet of Things & online laboratories, IT & knowledge management in education and real-world experiences. We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education and especially post-secondary education. To face these challenges, higher education has to find innovative ways to quickly respond to these new needs. There is also pressure by the new situation in regard to the Covid pandemic. These were the aims connected with the 23rd International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2020), which was held online by University of Technology Tallinn, Estonia from 23 to 25 September 2020. Since its beginning in 1998, this conference is devoted to new approaches in learning with a focus on collaborative learning. Nowadays the ICL conferences are a forum of the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences in Learning and Engineering Pedagogy. In this way, we try to bridge the gap between ‘pure’ scientific research and the everyday work of educators. Interested readership includes policymakers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, school teachers, learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.
Logistics refers to the processes that start with resources and their acquisition, storage, and transportation to their destination. The concept is crucial in business -- particularly for the manufacturing sector -- to understand, manage, and control how resources are handled and progress through the whole supply chain. Now, there is a strong trend to focus on sustainability and eco-friendly solutions in logistics. Processes based on both technology and management need innovations and detailed implementation steps to achieve a satisfactory level of sustainability. This book explores how and where innovations can be implemented to provide a wide approach to sustainability in logistics. It addresses the main challenges affecting modern and sustainable logistics and supply chains and is organized according to six main themes: supply chain management; information intelligent hubs (e.g. warehouse and cities); sustainable transportation; technology for logistics; reverse logistics; and city logistics. The key results presented are based on both extensive types of research and business cases. The overarching advanced logistics and supply chain concepts at the heart of this book contribute to a sustainable intelligent logistics and transport system by making it more efficient, reliable, environmentally friendly, and competitive. Essentially, this book presents the most current research related to sustainability in logistics activities and addresses the theoretical background of sustainability and its significance for logistics, the challenges in supply chains and transportation, and possible solutions for more sustainable logistics systems.
The modern shipping industry has reached maturity; market demand and landscape shifts force industry agents to find new pathways to successful development. The Northern Sea Route (NSR) as a new pathway between Europe and Asia brings both opportunities and challenges to global logistics systems. These circumstances make commercial exploitation of the route a subject of intense focus in many countries actively involved in sea transportation. This book identifies specific problems and provides possible solutions to them by calling on the accumulated knowledge of researchers and practitioners with competencies from diverse areas, including transport and logistics, Arctic studies, IT and digital technologies, socio-economic systems analysis, hydrocarbon production, transport, business modeling, design of information systems and applications, and engineering requirements for IT services. It represents the integrated experience and expertise of researchers from Canada, Germany, Russia, and the Netherlands, including experts from oil and gas enterprises, shipping lines, logistics companies, and IT companies.
Social work plays an important role in reintegrating individuals into society, educating, raising awareness, implementing social policy, and realizing legal regulations. The emergence of digital innovations and the effects of health problems including the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals and society have led to the development of innovations, virtual/digital practices, and applications in this field. While digital tools are not new to museum management, more activities are being performed through their use in order to attract visitors, enrich the cultural experience, vary the experience context, and innovate the cultural industry. However, these tools need to be tested in order to understand the effects they have on both museum offerings and visitors. Further perspectives and insights are needed on the implementation of these digital instruments in museums. The Handbook of Research on Museum Management in the Digital Era combines theoretical efforts and empirical research to contribute to the debate on museum management in a digital context. It further observes, tracks, and assesses the ongoing changes brought on by digital solutions. Covering topics such as organizational change catalysts, sustainability of cultural heritage, and phygital experience, this book is an excellent resource for museum managers, museum curators, computer specialists, students and educators of higher education, researchers, and academicians.
