A comprehensive reference for the poultry industry—Volume 2 describes poultry processing from raw meat to final retail products With an unparalleled level of coverage, the Handbook of Poultry Science and Technology provides an up-to-date and comprehensive reference on poultry processing. Volume 2: Secondary Processing covers processing poultry from raw meat to uncooked, cooked or semi-cooked retail products. It includes the scientific, technical, and engineering principles of poultry processing, methods and product categories, product manufacturing and attributes, and sanitation and safety. Volume 2: Secondary Processing is divided into seven parts: Secondary processing of poultry products—an overview Methods in processing poultry products—includes emulsions and gelations; breading and battering; mechanical deboning; marination, cooking, and curing; and non-meat ingredients Product manufacturing—includes canned poultry meat, turkey bacon and sausage, breaded product (nuggets), paste product (pâté), poultry ham, luncheon meat, processed functional egg products, and special dietary products for the elderly, the ill, children, and infants Product quality and sensory attributes—includes texture and tenderness, protein and poultry meat quality, flavors, color, handling refrigerated poultry, and more Engineering principles, operations, and equipment—includes processing equipment, thermal processing, packaging, and more Contaminants, pathogens, analysis, and quality assurance—includes microbial ecology and spoilage in poultry and poultry products; campylobacter; microbiology of ready-to-eat poultry products; and chemical and microbial analysis Safety systems in the United States—includes U.S. sanitation requirements, HACCP, U.S. enforcement tools and mechanisms
The Fourth International Conference on Ion Implantation: Equipment and Tech niques was held at the Convention Center in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany, from September 13 to 17, 1982. It was attended by more than 200 participants from over 20 different countries. Severa1 series of conferences have dealt with the app1ication of ion implantation to semiconductors and other materials (Thousand Oaks, 1970; Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 1971; Osaka, 1974; Warwick, 1975; Bou1der, 1975; Budapest, 1978; and Albany, 1980). Another series of conferences has been devoted to implantation equipment and techniques (S- ford, 1977; Trento, 1978; and Kingston, 1980). This conference was the fourth in the 1atter series. Twe1ve invited papers and 55 contributed papers covered the areas of ion implantation equipment, measuring techniques, and app1ica tions of implantation to metals and semiconductors. A schoo1 on ion implantation was held in connection with the conference, and the 1ectures presented at this schoo1 were pub1ished as Vo1. 10 of the Springer Series in E1ectrophysics under the tit1e Ion Implantation Techniques (edited by H. Rysse1 and H. G1awischnig). During the conference, space was also provided for presentations and demonstrations by manufacturers of ion implantation equipment. Once again, this conference provided a forum for free discussion among implantation specia1ists in industry as we11 as research institutions. Espe cially effective in stimulating a free exchange of information was the daily get-together over free beer at the "Bier Adam". Many people contributed to the success of this conference.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on e-Infrastructure and e-Services for Developing Countries, AFRICOMM 2020, held in Ebène City, Mauritius, in December 2020. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The 20 full papers were carefully selected from 90 submissions. The papers are organized in four thematic sections on dynamic spectrum access and mesh networks; wireless sensing and 5G networks; software-defined networking; Internet of Things; e-services and big data; DNS resilience and performance.
For a one/two-semester undergraduate survey, and/or for graduate courses on Traffic Engineering, Highway Capacity Analysis, and Traffic Control and Operations. Presents coverage of traffic engineering. It covers all modern topics in traffic engineering, including design, construction, operation, maintenance, and system optimization.
The pursuit of nuclear fusion as an energy source requires a broad knowledge of several disciplines. These include plasma physics, atomic physics, electromagnetics, materials science, computational modeling, superconducting magnet technology, accelerators, lasers, and health physics. Nuclear Fusion distills and combines these disparate subjects to create a concise and coherent foundation to both fusion science and technology. It examines all aspects of physics and technology underlying the major magnetic and inertial confinement approaches to developing nuclear fusion energy. It further chronicles latest developments in the field, and reflects the multi-faceted nature of fusion research, preparing advanced undergraduate and graduate students in physics and engineering to launch into successful and diverse fusion-related research. Nuclear Fusion reflects Dr. Morse’s research in both magnetic and inertial confinement fusion, working with the world’s top laboratories, and embodies his extensive thirty-five year career in teaching three courses in fusion plasma physics and fusion technology at University of California, Berkeley.
An engaging introduction to the core concepts, theories, actors and issues in global politics. Featuring a combination of chapters authored by leading scholars, researchers and practitioners from around the world, this textbook takes into account the historical development of international relations and the web of dynamics that forms the subject, resulting in a clear analysis of the field from a variety of perspectives. Chapters cover topics including race, colonialism, gender, sexuality, digital globalization, the environment and security studies and are supported by a range of case studies, key boxes and illustrative material to aid students in their practical application of theoretical ideas. The book is also complimented by a bespoke curated website, featuring a regularly updated collection of interactive learning material and hosted on E-International Relations, the world's leading open access IR website. Portraying the most compelling issues of our time, and presenting the necessary tools to analyse and debate the subject, this is an invaluable resource for anyone studying international relations.
