The symposium has focussed on current topics and future trends in intermediate-energy heavy ion physics. Particular emphases were placed on problems associated with nuclei far from the stability line and nuclear astyrophysical problems relevant to unstable nuclei. These subjects are tied up with new research opportunities to be offered by the recently completed K=540 cyclotron at RIKEN and a radioactive beam factory proposed as a part of Japan Hadron Project of INS.
The 9th Conference on Problems in Theoretical Nuclear Physics was organized as part of the project ?Theoretical Physics of Nuclei and Many-Body Systems? involving 17 Italian universities and sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Research and University. This volume includes the invited papers on the main subjects of the project and all the individual contributions on special topics. It reviews the work performed in the last two years by the participating Italian community of nuclear theorists. In addition, national and international perspectives are focussed by a panel on the future programmes of the large Italian laboratories and of the experimental community, as well as in a general review by A Faessler.
This proceedings volume includes all the invited talks and oral presentations at the International Symposium on Clustering Aspects of Quantum Many-Body Systems, 12–14 November 2001, Kyoto, Japan. It discusses various features of clustering aspects - localization of particles in static and dynamical contexts - of nuclear and atomic systems. It also presents many recent theoretical developments in quantum few-body and many-body problems. This book will be useful to graduate students and researchers in the field of quantum many-body problems, especially to those who want to understand the system properties beyond the mean-field description.
The main theme of the workshop is to discuss problems of nucleosynthesis in the Universe, specifically in connections to the unstable atomic nuclei, which would play a crucial role in explosive burning processes. This subject is strongly backed up by an increasing interest in studying unstable nuclei in nuclear physics. The subjects include primordial nucleosynthesis, Hot-CNO cycle and rapid-proton process, neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis, equation of state of neutron-rich matter etc.
