Finding “forever love” takes on a whole new meaning when it entails unlocking the secrets of Bandits Hollow’s ghosts… Devastatingly handsome Hayes Sellier comes from a long line of ranchers who love to roll up their sleeves and put in a hard day’s work. So it comes as a big surprise to Hayes when he inherits the town’s grand Victorian opera house, which is filled to the rafters with exquisite antiques. The problem? It’s also filled with ghosts… Along with a very sexy antique dealer named Amber Rove who claims the Town Council sold her all the furniture inside the building for a fundraiser. When these two lock horns over ownership of the salvage, their passion and chemistry fire hotter than a branding iron. Only Granny Tinker holds the wisdom to guide them toward their timeless love story that rivals even the town’s most legendary outlaws. Phantom Peak is Book 2 in the Starlight & Sagebrush Series of contemporary western romances set in the Rocky Mountains. Starlight & Sagebrush Series: Love, laughter, and a touch of magic surround these rugged cowboys who don’t know what they’re in for when Evangeline Tinker comes to Bandits Hollow, Colorado. As a renowned fortune teller, she can’t help meddling in people’s love lives with the help of her best friends Jubilee and Pearl. Their specialty? Finding world-weary women who could use a dose of countrified male affection and good old fashioned courtship with the kind of tough and sexy cowboys who are destined to stay. But the course of true love never did run smooth, and Evangeline and her friends have their hands full convincing their latest targets that love is the magic that changes everything…

Bioceramics are an important class of biomaterials. Due to their desirable attributes such as biocompatibility and osseointegration, as well as their similarity in structure to bone and teeth, ceramic biomaterials have been successfully used in hard tissue applications. In this book, a team of materials research scientists, engineers, and clinicians bridge the gap between materials science and clinical commercialization providing integrated coverage of bioceramics, their applications and challenges. The book is divided into three parts. The first part is a review of classes of medical-grade ceramic materials, their synthesis and processing as well as methods of property assessment. The second part contains a review of ceramic medical products and devices developed, their evolution, their clinical applications and some of the lessons learned from decades of clinical use. The third part outlines the challenges to improve performance and the directions that novel approaches and advanced technologies are taking, to meet these challenges. With a focus on the dialogue between surgeons, engineers, material scientists, and biologists, this book is a valuable resource for researchers and engineers working toward long-lasting, reliable, customized biomedical ceramic and composites devices. - Edited by a team of experts with expertise in industry and academia - Compiles the most relevant aspects on regulatory issues, standards and engineering of bioceramic medical devices as inspired by commercial and clinical needs - Introduces bioceramics, their evolution and applications in hard tissue engineering and medical devices
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Symposium on Bioinformatics Research and Applications, ISBRA 2019, held in Barcelona, Spain, in June 2019. The 22 full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 95 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: genome analysis; systems biology; computational proteomics; machine and deep learning; and data analysis and methodology.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th Annual International Conference on Information Management and Big Data, SIMBig 2022, held in Lima, Peru, during November 16–18, 2022. The 18 full papers and 1 short paper included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. The volume presented novel methods for the analysis and management of large data, in fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web, Data-driven Software Engineering, Health Informatics.
The second edition of the popular Chromatographic Integration Methods has been completely revised and updated. Written by an expert with many years' experience with two of the world's largest manufacturers of computing integrators, it has been expanded to include a new section on validation of integrators in response to regulatory requirements for quality and validation. A new literature survey, additional diagrams and Author Index have also been added. Well illustrated and easily read, this is an excellent source book for those who wish to increase their understanding of integrators. Chromatographic Integration Methods describes and discusses both manual and electronic techniques used, with the aim of aiding analysts to obtain more data from their chromatograms, and assist them with understanding how integrators work so that results are never accepted unquestioningly. As with the first edition, this book will be welcomed by all those in the chromatography field, particularly those at the bench.
The publication of this fourth edition, more than ten years on from the publication of Radiation Therapy Physics third edition, provides a comprehensive and valuable update to the educational offerings in this field. Led by a new team of highly esteemed authors, building on Dr Hendee’s tradition, Hendee’s Radiation Therapy Physics offers a succinctly written, fully modernised update. Radiation physics has undergone many changes in the past ten years: intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) has become a routine method of radiation treatment delivery, digital imaging has replaced film-screen imaging for localization and verification, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) is frequently used, in many centers proton therapy has become a viable mode of radiation therapy, new approaches have been introduced to radiation therapy quality assurance and safety that focus more on process analysis rather than specific performance testing, and the explosion in patient-and machine-related data has necessitated an increased awareness of the role of informatics in radiation therapy. As such, this edition reflects the huge advances made over the last ten years. This book: Provides state of the art content throughout Contains four brand new chapters; image-guided therapy, proton radiation therapy, radiation therapy informatics, and quality and safety improvement Fully revised and expanded imaging chapter discusses the increased role of digital imaging and computed tomography (CT) simulation The chapter on quality and safety contains content in support of new residency training requirements Includes problem and answer sets for self-test This edition is essential reading for radiation oncologists in training, students of medical physics, medical dosimetry, and anyone interested in radiation therapy physics, quality, and safety.
th On behalf of the organizing committee of the 13 International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, I extend our w- mest welcome to you. This series of conference began in 1983 and is jointly organized by the YLL School of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Singapore and the Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore). First of all, I want to thank Mr Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman A*STAR who kindly agreed to be our Guest of Honour to give th the Opening Address amidst his busy schedule. I am delighted to report that the 13 ICBME has more than 600 participants from 40 countries. We have received very high quality papers and inevitably we had to turndown some papers. We have invited very prominent speakers and each one is an authority in their field of expertise. I am grateful to each one of them for setting aside their valuable time to participate in this conference. For the first time, the Biomedical Engineering Society (USA) will be sponsoring two symposia, ie “Drug Delivery S- tems” and “Systems Biology and Computational Bioengineering”. I am thankful to Prof Tom Skalak for his leadership in this initiative. I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Prof Takami Yamaguchi for organizing the NUS-Tohoku’s Global COE workshop within this conference. Thanks also to Prof Fritz Bodem for organizing the symposium, “Space Flight Bioengineering”. This year’s conference proceedings will be published by Springer as an IFMBE Proceedings Series.
