This report presents a cost analysis of para-Xylene production from toluene. The process examined is a typical toluene disproportionation process (TDP). In this process, toluene undergoes a disproportionation reaction to produce xylenes and benzene. The benzene is separated as by-product and the xylenes are sent to an adsorption unit for p-Xylene recovery. The p-Xylene-depleted stream is fed into the isomerization unit, where the remaining xylenes are isomerized to equilibrium.
