Maxine Terrell lurches into adulthood madly in love with a woman and her child. Unfortunately, Daphne Polk is someone else’s wife, and her daughter Lena is someone else’s child. But Daphne’s been there for her ever since Max and her father weathered a terrible tragedy, one that’s still whispered about in their small Texas town. After years of hope and heartbreak, and too many lies to count, Max seems poised to settle for the various "friends with benefits" she encounters. Unexpectedly wealthy after her father’s death and emotionally adrift with no idea what she really wants from life, Max decides to take to the road and signs up to become a truck driver. During her training in Lubbock, she meets Trillian—“Thrill”—and manages to screw things up from the start. After another chance encounter and a sweet kiss she can’t forget, Max begins to rethink not only what, but who she really wants. As Max traverses the open road, her journey of impossible love, loss, and courage mirrors her voyage of self-discovery. But before she can look to the future, she must come to terms with the history she’d rather forget.
"A lifesaver for those of us who've been treading water instead of moving forward. It's all about the power of small changes-the dozens, even hundreds of choices we face each day that, if we see them as what they really are, will power us all the way to the success we envision."-Writer and Editor Lynn Stratton. Regrets are simply proof that your dreams are achievable. Your future is nothing more than the net value of the choices you make today. If you change nothing, then nothing will change and you'll regret every year what you could have accomplished but didn't. Do you really want to wait another year? It is the daily choices that change your life. No one can choose to be successful-there's no one choice that accomplishes that. We can, though, make daily choices that later result in success. Choose Your Way There I spent most of my life living in the future and regretting the past. I sought the miracle pill, the rags-to-riches and that elusive and mysterious inner power the motivational gurus like to sell. I knew everything, then realized I knew nothing. I was invincible until I found out I was really just fragile. I spent my life chasing the shadows of a future I did little to achieve. It took me over 40 years to realize that the future is only a reflection of today and that the past is irrelevant, for we cannot live in anything but the now. I learned I could use the past to choose today what my future will be.
On the Way There: Making the Most of Life's Journey Dr. Mary E. Adams Many people, for the most part, are looking for that special place or a special someone to help make their lives more meaningful and enjoyable. Although these are noble and worthwhile feats, so many things can happen along the way to that special place, called destiny. Things such as: delays, detours, distractions, diabolical schemes, etc., can cause a traveler on life's journey to lose focus or get stuck in the messy middle of adverse circumstances. Life is a journey, not a destination that often involves grappling with twists, turns, ups and downs along the way. Based upon a biblical worldview, the trip can be enjoyable and successful if a decision is made to obey Divine instructions for making the most out of every experience. Despite all of life's struggles, everyone has an opportunity for greatness and to enjoy life's journey; however, this is contingent, to a great extent, upon the willingness to adhere to Divine precepts, principles and patterns. This book is based upon lessons learned on the way toward attaining some measure of prophetic destiny. Dr. Mary E. Adams is Senior Pastor- MT Zion Cathedral- Fredericksburg, VA. She travels extensively, both nationally and internationally as a preacher, teacher, encourager for the body of Christ and is committed to promoting unity and love within her sphere of influence. Dr. Adams is married to(CSM-Ret)Robert Adams and currently resides in Stafford, VA. They have one daughter- Benita (Sidney), two grandchildren-Takisha and Dominique. For many years, Tracy Solomon was told to write a book, share her story and as much as it seemed to lay on her heart, life kept getting in the way. However, when laying in the ICU facing the end of her life, nothing seemed more important than trying to help others not end up where she had now found herself, headed to rehab for a suicide attempt. As long as there is life, there is hope. Sometimes the darkest place is needed to help us see the tiniest light and truly get our attention. We need shadows to light our way. Life is not about just getting through. Life is about living.
This is a book of essays. They are about the journey we all take through life. All of us are heading toward a real goal - home. We will each know our own home when we get there. When these essays started coming out of my computer, I did not know they were going to be essays. I was totally astonished when "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" showed up, fully formed, needing only slight tweaking to assume its final shape. I looked it over. This was an essay. It could not be anything else. Carrying on with my writing, I saw essay after essay appear on the screen of my computer. Some came out of my brain and heart almost as fully formed as the first. Some required much work. I believe the work was worthwhile. I believe the book is worthwhile. I stand proudly behind every idea in this book. I do not stand behind every word. Every major idea here is transformational and liberating. I do not know how many major liberating transformational ideas there are in the world, but as I write this, I can think of maybe 20 or 30 - no more. On the other hand, there are more than a half a million words in the three books. You may find words with which you disagree. I hope you do. But it would be a step in the wrong direction for you to disagree with the ideas. If you are completely satisfied with your current ideas about life - if you know all you want to know about leading a joy-filled life full of spirituality but devoid of empty religiosity - if you are happy with your relationships with all the people who mean something to you - if you have not thought about these things in many years, and really don't care to think about them now. If all this is true for you, please close this book and stop reading immediately. The Way Home is really three books in one cover. Each of the three is a complete unit, but each book gains strength from the other two. There are forty one essays in The Way Home, and each essay is complete in itself, but is also part of a unified whole. Book One provides an overview for the special person who will want to read a serious book of essays about how to lead life. Book Two is for those who might want to know more about the author and how he became the person he is. Book Three is for those who understand the first two. These fortunate few will already be conscious citizens of the new world already emerging from the ashes of the complete failure of western civilization. They know where they are going and how to get there. They will have gained a sense of direction for everything they do, and they will know how to regain balanced movement if they are ever threatened. Most of them will be able to do this because of a new religion they have adopted. It may be called by the same name as the religion they have always had, but it will be a new and intensely personal view of that religion. This personal religion will use some of the language of the religion into which the person was born - that is, Christians may use mostly the words of Jesus, Jews will not use Jesus' words at all, the different sects of the Moslem world will find different sections of the Koran to emphasize, and Indians will quote the Upanishads. Remarkably, there will be no disagreement, although each religion will be unique to one person alone.
New York Times bestselling author Rainbow Rowell's epic fantasy, the Simon Snow trilogy, concludes with Any Way the Wind Blows. In Carry On, Simon Snow and his friends realized that everything they thought they understood about the world might be wrong. And in Wayward Son, they wondered whether everything they understood about themselves might be wrong. Now, Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha must decide how to move forward. For Simon, that means choosing whether he still wants to be part of the World of Mages — and if he doesn't, what does that mean for his relationship with Baz? Meanwhile Baz is bouncing between two family crises and not finding any time to talk to anyone about his newfound vampire knowledge. Penelope would love to help, but she's smuggled an American Normal into London, and now she isn't sure what to do with him. And Agatha? Well, Agatha Wellbelove has had enough. Any Way the Wind Blows takes the gang back to England, back to Watford, and back to their families for their longest and most emotionally wrenching adventure yet. This book is a finale. It tells secrets and answers questions and lays ghosts to rest. The Simon Snow Trilogy was conceived as a book about Chosen One stories; Any Way the Wind Blows is an ending about endings—about catharsis and closure, and how we choose to move on from the traumas and triumphs that try to define us.
