The first is that this is the oldest and most widely known family amongst the parasitic copepods and hence the one most frequently appearing In the literature of the subject. The second is that originally all the parasitic copepods were placed In this family and hence, especially among the older writers, everyone who described a copepod parasite Is of necessity included In the bibliography of the Lernaeans. 3865.
