For some time now, I have been writing a simple blessing each day. I share it with those who are connected to me on social media. My friends, family and those who journey with me through these avenues have often commented that they would like to see them in a little book that you could carry with you on holiday, or leave by your bedside. I pray they will be used by God to bless you, to bless others and to somehow, in a small way, build confidence in Almighty God. You can dip into them or use them on a daily basis. Whatever works for you. Whether you are already a follower of Jesus, or you are just exploring Who He is and what He does, I pray these little blessings will help you.
This follow-up to Reverend Malcolm Duncan's hugely popular #Niteblessings invites you to encounter God at the end of the day. Each blessing draws you closer into His presence, releasing you from the pressures of the day into engagement with the Holy Spirit. Simple yet profound, moving and insightful, each of the Reverend Duncan's blessings will renew and encourage you on your walk with God.
'Risk Takers', from Spring Harvest veteran Malcolm Duncan, challenges readers to take an Early Church attitude to living the Christian life - spirit-led and good news driven. The book of Acts is the story of the first Christians doing church together. It wasn't systematized, ordered and disinfected. It was risky. They didn't have a clue what was coming next - but they soon learned to depend on the Spirit. They tried, often failed, and then tried again. In his book, Malcolm re-captures God's vision for the Church and puts into the inescapable context of mission. The he highlights the common risks many stumble over including living in Gods provision, saying yes and embodying grace. This book is an exciting invitation to Christians to take off the attitudes the modern church, of tail-gating through trough life, following the crowd and taking the easy, well-used paths. Instead Malcolm encourages and inspires readers to do the right option rather than the easy one. God is moving in our communities: our job is to discover where and join in!
"Good Grief will bring hope to those who feel, that because of the sheer pain of their loss, there could never be another tomorrow worth living." - Rob Parsons OBE, Chairman and Founder, Care for the Family We all walk through grief and loss. It comes in many shapes and forms. As a husband, father, son and a pastor, for the past thirty-four years, Malcolm Duncan has experienced loss in many forms. Duncan has seen grief destroy some people, and his own experience of loss and grief came close to destroying him. Yet God has carried him through. In this intensely personal journal, Duncan guides the reader through grief and loss, examining how it changes us, and affirms that God is with us every step of the way. Intimate and well-grounded in scripture, Malcolm Duncan shows us that no matter how dark it gets, the light of His grace will always be there.
A SKETCH OF TRUTH THEORY The Truth Theory refers to a natural attribute which all things embody during cosmic movement. And which features the inherent quality of the universe, that is, the attraction between Yin and Yun, the negative cosmic gas and the positive cosmic gas. It is the natural and scientific reality of the universe. The appearance of this theory will completely shatter the barriers that have hindered human understanding of life and all things in the universe for thousands of years. It will put an end to the idealism-materialism dichotomous outlook on the world and completely terminate the theism-atheism dualistic religious concept that people have disputed for thousands of years. It will enable humankind on Earth to see the universe in the true, clear-minded and correct manner for the first time. It will enable humankind to explain mysterious cosmic phenomena with our acquired part of scientific knowledge about the universe in a deep and complete manner for the first time. It is also a brand-new theory promoting human exploration of the universe to a higher level and advancing further. It will enable humankind to become aware of the cosmic law for the first time and it will make our cognition of the Way and ethics of the universe, which is home to humans, the Earth, the planets and all things, more comprehensive and profound. It will allow humankind to deeply realize the meaning and value of life for the first time. It will reshape the Earth on which we live. It will change the social structures, living styles and ideologies of all human beings, and promote human development on a more scientific and civilized track. It will help humankind to achieve a substantial leap in morality and civilization. It will guide the development of our science and technology towards higher and farther goals. Thus, we usher in a great and unprecedented civil society that has never before existed in human history.
Why do some people seem to throw themselves into every opportunity, bouncing back from every setback? Is this irrepressible spirit just for the hyper-motivated? How do the rest of us live courageously, relate authentically and develop resilience? Popular speaker and author Cathy Madavan deploys her trademark humour and down-to-earth wisdom to identify twelve ways we can become irrepressible. How do you discover your irrepressible purpose? How do you respond when disasters strike? How do you become a person of influence? How do you build a tribe of friends, but still keep healthy boundaries? How do your habits develop resilience, capacity and flexibility? This is your invitation to irrepressible living. These principles are your tools for building a courageous, resilient and fulfilling life. Cathy Madavan lives on England’s south coast with her husband Mark, and has been teaching about resilience, relationships and purpose for over 20 years.
Christians face a tough task. In a world without consensus, all truth claims are regarded dubiously. The Gospel does not change, but what aspects should be highlighted in our rapidly changing culture? How do we speak 'into' the culture, instead of just mirroring that culture? Malcolm Duncan constructs his case around the core statements of the Apostles' Creed. If we believe in as God as Creator, what does that mean about our treatment of His creation? If we accept Christ as Saviour and Lord, in what sense are we rescued, redeemed, remade? If we accept the Holy Spirit as Guide, where are we going and what are we here for? We face an unbelievable task: playing our part in the world's regeneration. But God has confidence in us. If we can be confident of what He has done for us, then we can also be confident of what He wants to do through us.
This “page-turning biography” reveals the extraordinary life of the children’s book author behind Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny (BookPage). Millions of people around the world know Margaret Wise Brown through her classic works of children’s literature. But few know that she was equally remarkable for her business savvy, her thirst for adventure, and her vital role in a children’s book publishing revolution. Margaret used her whimsey and imagination to create stories that allowed girls to see themselves as equal to boys. And she spent days researching subjects, picking daisies, and observing nature, all in an effort to precisely capture a child’s sense of wonder as they discovered the world. Living extravagantly off her royalties, Margaret embraced life with passion and engaged in tempestuous love affairs with both men and women. Among her great loves was the gender-bending poet and ex-wife of John Barrymore who went by the pen name Michael Strange. She later became engaged to a younger man who was the son of a Rockefeller and a Carnegie. When she died unexpectedly at the age of forty-two, Margaret left behind a cache of unpublished work and a timeless collection of books. Drawing on newly-discovered personal letters and diaries, author Amy Gary reveals an intimate portrait of this creative genius whose unrivaled talent breathed new life in to the literary world.
Alan Scott, a leader in the Vineyard Movement, draws upon his years of experience to share inspiring stories of cities transformed by scattered servants. He shares practical ways for church leaders to move beyond the building walls and take the kingdom to those who need it most. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Scott argues that every believer, not just the leaders, can fill their city, workplace, and family with the beauty and power of Christ. When believers become scattered servants, the Holy Spirit will equip them to advance the kingdom and change lives through their hearts and hands.
