Two young children are spending their first full summer vacation with their widowed grandmother and her brother, Uncle Joe, in the small town of Bath, North Carolina. They are not looking forward to staying in the small town. They think they have a long boring summer ahead. But they learn that their grandmother's restaurant, Pirate's Cove, is being constantly robbed of its supplies. They team up with two other children from the neighborhood and solve the baffling mystery that even the police can't seem to solve. Could some of the things Uncle Joe tells them about the pirate Blackbeard set them on the right track in solving the Mystery at Pirate's Cove?
Ellery Page, aspiring screenwriter, Scrabble champion and guy-with-worst-luck-in-the-world-when-it-comes-to-dating, is ready to make a change. So when he learns he's inherited both a failing bookstore and a falling-down mansion in the quaint seaside village of Pirate's Cove, Rhode Island, it's full steam ahead! Sure enough, the village is charming, its residents amusingly eccentric, and widowed police chief Jack Carson is decidedly yummy (though probably as straight as he is stern). However, the bookstore is failing, the mansion is falling down, and there's that little drawback of finding rival bookseller--and head of the unwelcoming-committee--Trevor Maples dead during the annual Buccaneer Days celebration. Still, it could be worse. And once Police Chief Carson learns Trevor was killed with the cutlass hanging over the door of Ellery's bookstore, it is.
This rollicking tale magically combines an unruly group of youngsters, Blackbeard's ghost, secret tunnels, skeletons, hidden treasure, a very mysterious inheritance, This book is a history lesson of the greatest kind--with the past and the present wonderfully and entertainingly intertwined.

Love is in the Salt Sea Air--and So is Murder! Ellery Page, aspiring screenwriter, reigning Scrabble champion, and occasionally clueless owner of the village's only mystery bookstore, the Crow’s Nest, is both flattered and bemused when he’s invited to the annual Marauder’s Masquerade, the best and biggest social event of the season in the quaint seaside village of Pirate’s Cove, Rhode Island. The event is hosted by the wealthy Marguerite Bloodworth-Ainsley—a descendant of the famed pirate Tom Blood. Ellery doesn’t even know Mrs. Bloodworth-Ainsley—nor, it turns out—does Mrs. Bloodworth-Ainsley know him. But Marguerite’s son, Julian wants to know Ellery. Julian, handsome, rich and engaging, is a huge mystery buff. In fact, he’s bought quite a few books at the Crow’s Nest bookstore, but never quite worked up the nerve to ask Ellery out. As his relationship with Police Chief Carson seems to be dead in the water, Ellery is grateful for a little flattering attention from the village’s most eligible bachelor, but any hopes of romance hit the shoals when Julian is accused of murdering his mother’s unlikable second husband during the Masquerade's annual ghost hunt in the family’s spooky cemetery.
Kurt! Kurt! Willie jumped up frozen with horror as he watched Kurt hurled over the edge by momentum, his arms flailing in the air as if to grab hold of something, anything that would break or stop his fall. The look of sheer terror was evident in Kurt's wide eyes and gaping mouth as his screams waned before being cut off by the thud. Being the new kid in school is one of the worst things ever! In The Secret Treasure of Pirate's Cove, Kurt Brandon is the new kid and he doesn't like it one bit. He takes out his anger on a nerdy boy named Willie McLeish but quickly finds that the nerd is no pushover. Their quest to find the sunken treasure ship The MaryAnna lands them in many mischievous encounters. There's the crumbling cliff, for instance, and the hole in the ice for another. And let's not forget Old Man Roonie! And, oh yes, the treasure search is in there, too! Come and join them for exciting adventures and sleuth-solving mysteries in The Secret Treasure of Pirate's Cove.
