My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me: 1. I’m in a coma. 2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore. 3. Sometimes I lie. Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?
"You'll enjoy learning more about wine and food with your friends when you start your own wine club. It's casual, fun, as easy as opening a bottle, and every club meeting is a party."--Cover.
What Happens When You Turn a Great Writer Loose on One of His Favorite Topics? John Turi's A Drinker With a Writing Problem is just not some collection of wine reviews. Instead it is a collection of Turi's best wine writing. Each piece is really a story of and about a specific wine. Each chapter reads like the most interesting wine history lesson in print and simultaneously like a page ripped from the private diary of the most interesting person you know. After reading a review you will not only want to go and find the wine right away, you will find yourself wishing you could share a bottle with the author. Some reviews increase your knowledge and shape your opinion. These reviews do that, but more importantly they infect the reader with the same passion for wine that radiates from every one of Turi's paragraphs. If you love wine you need this book. If you love great writing you need this book. If you love great wine writing your life will not be complete until you add this collection to your personal library. Praise for John Turi and A Drinker With a Writing Problem: "Whether they know a great deal or nothing about wine, listeners will enjoy John Turi's views--he reviews only wines he loves." - AudioFile Magazine John's wine reviews are part history lesson, part personal epiphany, part peep show, part discovery, and they are always peppered with a dash of enthusiastic admiration. - Ken Robidoux, Founding Editor-in-Chief of ConnotationPress.com Get Your Copy Right Now
"My Favorite Burgundies is a more personal follow-up to--but not a comprehensive revision of--Coates' The Wines of Burgundy (California, 2008). The book is based on the author's many subsequent tastings and travels through the region since the publication of his last book five years ago. Chapter 1 includes descriptions of Burgundy's most renowned vineyards, including their particular history, geography, and soil conditions, as well as tasting notes of various producer's single-bottle offerings from these sites. Chapter 2 describes the region's most distinguished domaines, with Coates impressions of the proprietors, facilities, and wine-making philosophies, along with vertical tasting notes (in some cases, stretching back more than thirty years). Chapter 3 provides current vintage assessments of Chablis from 2008-2010, Coates' highly sought-after "Three Years On" and "Ten Years On" tastings, assessing wines from between 1990-2002. All tastings are accompanied by the author's personal notes, ratings, and suggested drinking dates. Interspersed throughout are a brief series of "observations" on a variety of hot-button issues in the wine world, from the utility of blind tasting and tasting notes to biodynamics and other philosophies of viticulture"--

“[A] sweet, funny story . . . as good as Patty Jane’s House of Curl.”—Minneapolis Star Tribune Megastar of stage, screen, and television, Geneva Jordan now has a command performance in Minnesota, where she agrees to look after her thirteen-year-old nephew, a boy with Down’s syndrome, while his parents take a long-overdue vacation. Though Geneva and her sister, Ann, are as different as night and day (“I being night, of course, dark and dramatic”), Geneva remembers she had a family before she had a star on her door. But so accustomed is she to playing the lead, finding herself a supporting actress in someone else’s life is strange and unexplored territory. Then the discovery of an old scrapbook that she and her sister created long ago starts her thinking of things beyond fame. For The Great Mysterious is a collection of thoughts and feelings dedicated to answering life’s big questions—far outside the spotlight’s glow. . . .
