After author Joann Bush’s son, Jon, was born in 1976, she frequently heard voices saying he would not live past age eighteen. She ignored the messages, telling herself she was being silly and ridiculous. Bush believed in God, but at the same time, she wasn’t sure about life after death. She believes she now has her answer. In My Borrowed Angel, she shares her story including how twenty-three-year-old Jon, his wife, and their ten-month-old daughter were killed in a car accident in 1999. Numb with grief, Bush narrates how she and other family members began receiving messages from Jon. He asked that she help children. Reflecting on her experiences, Bush believes God loaned her Jon for a purpose. She’s since started a foundation in honor of Jon, Macy, and Misty to help children who have major medical conditions
A riveting novel of desire, murder, and a race for survival in the storm-drenched Everglades by the New York Times–bestselling “queen of romantic suspense” (RT Book Reviews). It was supposed to be a great gig: a high-profile photo shoot in the Florida Everglades, with Ashley Dane modeling a set of famous emeralds. Instead, Ashley finds herself fleeing through the snake-filled swamp after witnessing a murder. Writer Eric Hawk is also on the run—he’s being hunted by a man from his past. Ashley doesn’t completely trust Eric, but she has no one else to turn to . . . and she finds him irresistible. Unrelenting threats keep them on the move through the dangerous terrain, and although they come from different worlds, their deepening feelings for each other make them believe they might have a future together . . . if they make it out alive. “Graham stands at the top of the romantic suspense category.” —Publishers Weekly “There are good reasons for Graham’s steady standing as a bestselling author.” —Booklist

This captivating, true story, pushes the limits of what we all have believed to be true. As Medium Ashley Dawn helps a grieving family connect to their son ‘J’, together they discover more about the universe than they ever thought possible. With her link to the other side, her guide ‘J’ provides answers to deep and controversial questions, shedding light on that which is otherwise hidden. “Is there such thing as hell?” J’s answer: “At home- where I am (heaven) everything is beautiful. On Earth we feel more separated from each other, and “THE” (God or source), than at any other place in the universe. This illusion creates fear. There is no greater hell than the one we create here, on earth” “How is earth different than other realms?” J’s answer: “Each realm is different and as you use less empathy and telepathy they become more difficult. Earth is the most difficult and hardest place to be, so you must take classes before you’re allowed to enter into a realm. The events and emotions on earth also go from passion to despair. These constant ups and downs are challenging to navigate. This makes earth one of the hardest realms from which to learn. However, earth also provides a tremendous amount of growth for a soul’s journey.”

Examines disability and illness life narratives published between the early 1980’s and 2004, including Frank Deford’s Alex: The Life of a Child, Lucy Grealy’s Autobiography of a Face, Ann Patchett’s Truth and Beauty: A Friendship, John Hockenberry’s Moving Violations and Kenny Fries’ Body, Remember. I apply studies of the culture of sentiment, shame, Erving Goffman’s stigma theory, masculinity studies, autobiography theory and disability studies to examining the ways in which these narratives, both individually, juxtaposed, and collectively, offer reinterpretations of the subject position implied by the term 'disability'. In every case, the authors I have included challenge the medical model of disability, choosing to portray themselves or their lost loved ones as energetic, unique, often funny and charming individuals worthy of our attention and respect.
