"Modern Atheism under its forms of Pantheism, Materialism, Secularism, Development, and Natural Laws" by James Buchanan is a commentary text from the 19th century when atheism was much less talked about than it is today. This book is a seminal work in understanding this stark difference from the religious norm of the time and helped many understand its roots.
