Since 2009 we have established a strong community meeting biannually to present our contributions in the narrow yet timely and interesting field of Models and Technologies for Intelligent Transportation Systems. MT-ITS has become a unique event where academia and practice meet and exchange ideas and results. Many of us have contributed to all its 6 past editions and has attended many if not all the editions. We are sure there is future for this conferences and we are mature enough to formalize it and to guarantee maintaining its quality standards and its existence. For this reason, we are creating a Steering Committee that will be in charge of organising, disseminating information and results, organising the reviewing process and define the main developments and the long term evolution of MT-ITS. This committee is open for all already contributing to MT-ITS or willing to contribute in the future, especially in hosting the event in the next editions. By the end of July we will launch the committee and announce the MT-ITS 2021 location and organising institution. The Cracow University of Technology, Department of Transportation Systems is a proud organizer of 6th edition of International Conference on Models and Technologies for Intelligent Transportation Systems (MT-ITS 2019) in Kraków, Poland. In line with previous conferences in Rome (2009), Leuven (2011), Dresden (2013), Budapest (2015) and Napoli (2017) MT-ITS 2019 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from across Europe and the rest of the world to discuss emerging trends and developments in modelling and technology for ITS, to present state-of-the-art updates and to facilitate cross-fertilization between these two key areas of transportation systems. Attendees will experience a friendly and creative environment involving experts from science, industry and the public sector.
Innovative and smart mobility systems are expected to make transportation systems more sustainable, inclusive, and safe. Because of changing mobility paradigms, transport planning and design require different methodological approaches. Over twelve chapters, this book examines and analyzes Mobility as a Service (MaaS), travel behavior, traffic control, intelligent transportation system design, electric, connected, and automated vehicles, and much more.
The book gathers selected papers presented at the KES International Symposium on Smart Transportation Systems (KES-STS 2019). Modern transportation systems have undergone a rapid transformation in recent years. This has produced a range of vehicle technology innovations such as connected vehicles, self-driving cars, electric vehicles, Hyperloop, and even flying cars, and with them, fundamental changes in transport systems around the world. The book discusses current challenges, innovations and breakthroughs in Smart Transportation Systems, as well as transport infrastructure modeling, safety analysis, freeway operations, intersection analysis, and other related cutting-edge topics.
This book presents research advances in intelligent transportation and smart cities in detail, mainly focusing on green traffic and urban utility tunnels, presented at the 3rd International Symposium for Intelligent Transportation and Smart City (ITASC) held at Tongji University, Shanghai, on May 19–20, 2017. It discusses a number of hot topics, such as the 2BMW system (Bus, Bike, Metro and Walking), transportation safety and environmental protection, urban utility design and application, as well as the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in city design. By connecting the theory and applications of intelligent transportation in smart cities, it enhances traffic efficiency and quality. The book gathers numerous selected papers and lectures, including contributions from respected scholars and the latest engineering advances, to provide guidance to researchers in the field of transportation and urban planning at universities and in related industries. The first conference in the ITASC series started in 2013 as a workshop of The International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized System (ISADS), held in Mexico City, and the second was held in May 2015, in Tongji University, Shanghai.
The book provides a systematic overview of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). First, it includes an insight into the reference architectures developed within the main EU research projects. Then, it delves into each of the layers of such architectures, from physical to application layer, describing the technological issues which are being currently faced by some of the most important ITS research groups. The book concludes with some end user services and applications deployed by industrial partners. This book is a well-balanced combination of academic contributions and industrial applications in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The most representative technologies and research results achieved by some of the most relevant research groups working on ITS, collated to show the chances of generating industrial solutions to be deployed in real transportation environments.
IEEE MT ITS 2019 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from across Europe and the rest of the world to discuss emerging trends and developments in modelling and technology for ITS, to present state of the art updates and to facilitate cross fertilization between these two key areas of transportation systems Attendees will experience a friendly and creative environment involving experts from science, industry and the public sector Topics of the conference include, but are not limited to ITS oriented traffic planning, operations and management Demand modelling and travel behaviour under ITS Model calibration, simulation and tools for ITS Case studies and assessment of ITS applications Future mobility data collection for passenger and freight Real time traffic control, management and short term predictions ITS, multimodal transportation and freight systems ITS and big data Plug in Electric Vehicles and impacts on mobility Vehicle to X Vehicle (V2V)
Intelligent transport systems, from basic management systems to more application-oriented systems, vary in the technologies they apply. Information technologies, including wireless communication, are important in intelligent transportation systems, as are computational technologies: floating car data/floating cellular data, sensing technologies, and video vehicle detection. Theoretical and application technologies, such as emergency vehicle notification systems, automatic road enforcement and collision avoidance systems, as well as some cooperative systems are also used in intelligent transportation systems. This book presents papers selected from the 128 submissions in the field of information technology and intelligent transportation systems received from 5 countries. In December 2019 Chang’an University organized a round-table meeting to discuss and score the technical merits of each selected paper, of which 23 are included in this book. Providing a current overview of the subject, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field of intelligent transportation systems and traffic management.
