But my Publisher, on learning how much material, hitherto unprinted, lay in my drawers, requested me to furnish it to him in preference. Nor is it all yet exhausted. On the reception given to this volume it must depend, Whether others shall follow. Although the Lectures have received recent correction, I have carefully avoided to alter any allusions Which indicate the year or place of original delivery. The last article appeared in the National Review, an unfortunately short -lived quarterly. The Lecture on Elocution was delivered at a Ladies' College.
