Excerpt from Minutes of the Montgomery Baptist Association of North Carolina, 1966: Seventy-Eighth Annual Session, Meeting With Troy First Baptist Church, Thursday, October 13, 1966, Calvary Baptist Church, Friday, October 14, 1966 Article 2. The object of this Association shall be the promotion of Christ's gdom among men; and means of accomplishing this shall be in strict con nity with the New Testament. Artic-l-e 3. This Association shall be composed of all active pastors in the As ation, all ordained ministers who have reached the age of retirement, all mem of all standing committees, and three messengers. From each church of 100 obers or less, and one additional messenger for each 100 members or fraction eof above the first hundred. Article 4. The messengers. From each church shall bear a letter certifying their Jintment, and communicating information relative to the state of the church. Vided, however, that when any church has prepare-d a letter and through in ertance the letter fails to be presented, her messengers may be receivd without iresentation. Article 5. The Officers of the Assoc-iation shall be Moderator vice-moderator, k-treasurer, Historian, and Parliamentarian who shall be chosen annually n among its members by a majority vote, and continue 1n office until their essors are elected. The Moderator shall not serve more than two consecutive is in office. Article 6. A Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the Moderator, to k during the year to have ready nominations for the various officers for the iciation when it meets in its annual meeting. The Committee shall contact all inees before they are recommended to the Associationt to get their consent ii elected they will serve as elected. Article 7. It shall be the duties of the Moderator to enforce an observance he Constitution, preserve order, appoint committees, decide all questions of er, give his opinion of any question under discussion after others have Spoken, to give the casting vote in case of a tie, and to oversee the Work during interim. He event of his absence, the vice-moderator shall act in his stead. Article 8. It shall be the duty of the clerk-treasurer to record the proceed of all sessions of the Association and direct the printing and distribution of Minutes among the churches; and to receive all funds sent up by the churches, ollecte-d during the session of the body, and distribute the same as ordered by Association. He shall make a complete annual report of receipts and disburse ts to the Association in session. He shall receive for said services an honorarium per annum. Article 9. It shall be the duty of the Historian to preserve for the record of Association any items that he may consider of historical interest'to the AS ation. Article 10. The Association shall appoint an Executive Committee consisting he Moderator, Associational Missionary, Pastor and one member from each perating church, the church member from each church to be elected by the ral churches, who shall co operate with the State Board and Southern Baptist vention, so far as practicable, in mission work within our bounds.
