Rosai and Ackerman’s Surgical Pathology delivers the authoritative guidance you need to overcome virtually any challenge in surgical pathology. Recognized globally for his unmatched expertise, preeminent specialist Juan Rosai, MD brings you state-of-the-art coverage of the latest advancements in immunohistochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, prognostic/predictive markers, and much more - equipping you to effectively and efficiently diagnose the complete range of neoplastic and non-neoplastic entities. Efficiently review the clinical presentation, gross and microscopic features, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical findings, differential diagnosis, therapy, and prognosis for virtually every pathologic entity. Compare your findings to more than 3,300 outstanding illustrations that capture the characteristic presentation of every type of lesion. Avoid diagnostic pitfalls using Dr. Rosai's expert observations on what to look for, what to be careful about, and which presentations can be misleading. Find quick answers on tumor staging, quality control procedures, and the handling of gross specimens through valuable appendices. Make optimal use of all the very latest advances including our increased understanding of the genetic basis of inherited and acquired disease, the newest molecular genetic and immunohistochemical techniques, and the most recent WHO disease classification schemes.
Richard Giberson and Richard Demaree, Jr, have collected a wide range of time-saving microwave techniques for processing biological samples for evaluation by many different microscopic methods. Described in step-by-step detail by hands-on researchers, these readily reproducible protocols include both optimized classic methods and such state-of-the art techniques as in vivo labeling, formalin fixation of fresh tissue, vacuum processing, and processing for scanning electron microscopy. Each stand-alone microwave method has been handcrafted by a researcher who regularly uses it to ensure processing success and the brightest quality result.
This third edition of the popular Cellular Pathology textbook provides a thorough coverage of all the key areas of histological and cytological techniques. It is written for students studying courses in biomedical sciences, healthcare science or other subjects allied to medicine. The book provides essential information on those techniques that have particular relevance to both the diagnosis of disease and also for research in pathology. This 3rd edition has been thoroughly updated and extended to: include changes in established practice accommodate newly emerging techniques such as in molecular diagnostics provide an introduction to the latest immunological methods, microscopy techniques, image analysis systems and approaches in liquid-based cytology show all images in full colour. Additionally, the general principles of pathology are given a more rigorous treatment and the approach to good laboratory practice has been expanded. This edition continues to feature learning objectives, revision notes, recommended further reading and self-evaluation questions, all of which really help the student to understand the subject. The book further benefits from an increased number of photographs that illustrate typical results and techniques - all in full colour. Cellular Pathology 3e reflects the current requirements of cellular pathology teaching and practice and provides essential reading for any course that relates to cellular pathology, histology and histopathology.

If you want practical information on how to use this book please refer to "Note to the Readers" p. VII. Histochemistry and cytochemistry are essential tools in biomedical research and routine service laboratories. Most texts on histochemistry fall into one of two categories: 1. Encyclopaedic texts covering all or nearly all information available on the whole or selected parts of histochemistry. 2. Reviews or surveys of methods found to be useful by the author(s). While the former category often appeals to the more philosophically inclined reader, direct guidance on the selection of technique may be difficult to find. In contrast, the latter category are often excellent sources for details on how to perform a particular method with a reasonable chance of success. Consideration of the exact mechanism of staining, of possible reasons for failure, and of alternative techniques are, however, frequently lacking. This book is an introduction to the scientific basis of histochemistry and is intended to provide a background for the selection and development of appro priate methods. It is not a "cook book" and readers expecting exhaustive methodological descriptions will be disappointed. Although most ofthe contributors to this book would not describe themselves as histochemists, they have all at some time found it essential to develop a basic understanding of histochemistry. This book contains the information they would have greatly appreciated ready access to at that time.
The Purpose of this book is to provide a helpful reference for invertebrate pathologist, virologists, and electron microscopists on invertebrate viruses. Investigators from around the world have shared their expertise in order introduce scientists to the exciting advances in invertebrate virology.
