Excerpt from Methodist Tune Book: A Collection of Tunes Adapted to the Methodist Hymn Book The Music has been selected with great care, from the best sources, and with special reference to its adaptability for Congregational use, and at the same time meeting the growing improvement in the service of song observable in most of our Churches. The Tunes here presented will be found to be in accord with the spirit and character of the Hymns in use amongst us; and the adoption of them, it is hoped, will promote intelligent expression, and devout feeling, in one of the most delightful exercises of Christian worship. Many of the Tunes have been tested by long usage, and have become sacred as a medium of praise others are relatively new; yet an acquaintance with them will soon render them as popular as the old. The Committee express sincere thanks to those Publishers who have kindly permitted their Copyright music to be inserted in this collection. To Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen, for permission to insert No. 341, a production of H. R. H. The late Prince Consort.
